Highly recommended for everyone, regardless of whether your a vegetarian of full blown meat eater.
Small but perfectly formed menu, great atmosphere and friendly personal service

Went to Dandelion and Burdock last night with my dad and a friend. Me and my dad had the smoked tofu stir fry, and my friend had the corn tortillas with soya mince chilli.
After being told by my vegan friend that it's a great place, and seeing that it's been awarded accolades for top notch veggie food, I was made to feel very bad for suggesting we tried something different and go to a vegetarian place for tea.
This isn't a gripe about vegetarian food. This is a gripe about bland and overcooked food.
My noodles were dry, lacked sauce and flavour. The noodles were overcooked, and the tofu tasted of nothing. Considering tofu's awesome ability to absorb flavour, this was clearly some kind of wizardry for a vegetarian restaurant. There was no salt and pepper on the table, so I wasn't able to give my plate a boost of flavour.
My friend who ordered the tortillas doesn't like flour tortillas, however, 1 out of 3 tortillas was flour, thankfully the portion of chilli was so frugal, the 2 corn tortillas sufficed. Also, the avocado was under ripe.
I really wanted to be able to rave about this restaurant, however, felt underwhelmed and disappointed. What a shame, vegetarian food is brilliant, and needs to be eaten by more people. I really wanted to be able to recommend Dandelion and Burdock to friends

I took my visiting son to a drum workshop in Halifax one Saturday morning recently and on the way out he fell into conversation with a young lady called Tigger. They soon discovered they were both vegans and Tigger suggested we try D & B for lunch. Off the 3 of us went and oh, what a great place. It was nearly empty but still had bags of atmosphere and the food was delicious. I am just about to book for my birthday. Thanks Tigger.

We were visiting my sister and brother-in-law in Shipley. They brought us here for dinner on Friday evening. It was a wild and wet evening with torrential rain but the warm welcome in this restaurant made up for all that. We were treated to a superb meal: beat root cakes; leak and sweet potato frittatas with celeriac mash, roasted aubergine and butternut squash; lemon and ginger cheese cake with ice cream. We chose a bottle of Argentinean wine which was absolutely delicious and which complimented the meal beautifully. It was one of the best meals we have had for a very long time. We were here last year for our wedding anniversary and we certainly will make it a point to visit this delightful restaurant when we are again in Yorkshire. This is the best advert for Sowerby Bridge ever.

Had my first meal here for my birthday in August. It was delicious, so last night I went again for their 4th Anniversary 5 Course Taster Menu. It was superb. I have never tasted food as good. David Wilson is an amazing and inventive cook and I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough. Simply outstanding. The menu changes every month and from now on I am going to visit once a month at least. I just wish I had discovered it sooner. I had heard how good the food was but thought it was too far to travel for a meal but it only takes me half an hour from Oldham and from Manchester it would be 45 minutes tops.

My brother and sister-in-law brought us here for dinner on Saturday evening. We were bowled over by the ambience of the restaurant with its unique setting by the riverside. The menu which changes monthly is a great innovation. We had a wonderful meal and a great time. It is no wonder that the Vegetarian Society has given its accolade to this establishment.

My uncle and aunt brought us here on Saturday night for dinner. What a cute place, situated right next to a flowing river! I like the idea of a changing menu every month. I have not checked it out but I expect that you place the menu on your web site so that people can see what dishes that month has to offer. This must certainly be the in-place for dining. The food was simply fabulous.

We brought our young niece and her husband here on a Saturday evening. We had told them that the Dandelion & Burdock had gained the Vegetarian Society’s prestigious award for being the Best Vegetarian Restaurant. They were thrilled with the place and the food.

Our relatives in Shipley brought us here for dinner. I was absolutely captivated by the setting and the ambience of the restaurant. I particularly like the menu which changes every month. You must have a brilliant chef to think of new dishes every month. Is there any chance of sending him/her to the USA? We had a most delightful meal.
