Midweek shopping in Cleveleys, what could be better than nipping into a nice friendly local pub for a spot of lunch.
Spotted The Dickens Inn,perfectly placed between the two major carparks, Took my little party of 4 in, and grabbed a seat, which sometimes can be difficult for us as one member of the family uses a mobility scooter, access was easy, and there was plenty of space for us to leave the scooter near the table.
Ordered food and the first course was sitting on the table piping hot within 10 minutes, giving us time to start with a drink from the good selection on the bar.
Second course served just as promptly and just as hot, which is always a nice turn of events, both courses were great - tasty, hot, and more than enough for a good appetite like mine, there was however one little complaint from one of our group, who is a fussy eater, that the Margherita pizza had "real" tomatoes on the top, which I'm told is "not a proper Margherita pizza" perhaps I should have checked that when I ordered.
Ok, the atmosphere in the pub was quiet and the choice of music channel on the TV's may not have been to all tastes, but overall i would wholeheartedly recommend the Dickens Inn to anyone who happens to be in cleveleys when the hunger pangs hit.

I went here with the members of the Pendle Stroke group and had a fantastic time, the staff couldn't have done more for us! There were fifteen of us and everything went swimmingly. food and atmosphere were great. All of us will definitely be returning.

I went in to the steak house on the tuesday night to my amazement they now have a pool team, it was quite busy, the lights were dimmed and there was candles lit in the windows, wot a nice friendly atmosphere it was, we had a steak each me my mum and my daughter , flowers in the windows we really felt comfortable and welcome, wot effort are they gonna make next?

This place seems to be constantly improving! We came in March and were pretty impressed but now the Dickens is a steakhouse. The food is brilliant as usual and we were glad to see that they have modernised the toilets. A massive improvement and a new wooden floor round the pool table. All in all they seem to be going in the right direction. Paul, the asst manager is like a dynamo, rushing round making sure everyone is happy. (he told us to write that!! and he told us to visit this website!) 10/10

I went in for a little light lunch with my wife Maureen, it was polite and pleasant service, the Manager or Assistant Manager was walking round checking if everybody was happy and had everything they needed with their meals, it is very rare to see this kind of service nowadays as a lot of places want you in and out of their premises as quick as possible, we were made to feel comfortable and welcome we would be happy to visit you again. Thanks from Jim & Maureen from Bispham

I went into the steak house for a meal , the service at the bar was prompt and the food was hot and tasty,i was surprised considering the old reputation of the place, being local myself i have to take my hat off to the management there they really seem to be trying hard to turn the place around, it was a nice place to go with my friend for a spot of lunch, nice music as well ten out of ten thanks for a nice day we will be back.

I used to be a local at the dickens pub until the atmosphere changed from being relaxed and calm to loud and abusive; it didn't seem like a safe place to take my family anymore. Because of this, I stopped going to the Dickens around a year ago. Lately however, there was a keyboard player set up just outside, and the outside of the pub looked as though it had had a bit of a face-lift. There was a young man outside giving out leaflets who asked if i was local; I replied yes but that I would never go back there again and stated my reasons. I was informed that the pub was under new management and that the atmosphere was back to its former glory, and was then convinced to go in and take a look inside. What a surprise! The Dickens is now cleaner than it ever has been and has changed the menu (its now a steak house) to accommodate more people. Since then I have been back to the Dickens with my family and was not disappointed. I think that we will be visiting there again in the future as I was informed that they will soon be opening the kitchen 'til late (kids are allowed in until 9pm) and there will soon be a bouncy castle outside for the children!!

The Dickens had a reputation as a "rowdy"pub so it was was with some trepidation that my family visited the Dickens for Mothers day. What a transformation!! The bar staff were smart, pleasant and attentive, even though it was very busy, nothing was too much trouble and a table was soon found and prepared for us. The thing we noticed above all was how clean the place was even though it could do with a facelift. The waitresses were very efficient and eager to please, giving our little ones an activity pack each and some crayons straight away.
We ordered our food from the large and varied menu and were amazed when it arrived very quickly, all piping hot and looking superb. I cant remember the last time we had a pub meal that was so good - excellent value for money. Those little extras like fresh croutons in the soup and lemon and parsley with the fish do make a difference! The children were happy too, after finishing their meals they were presented with a bag of chocolate coins each! treasure from the shipwreck on cleveleys beach they were told!. The Dickens also has a petanque (french boules) court, the first I've seen on the Fylde Coast and we were able to borrow some boules from behind the bar and play a couple of games before we left.
All in all a fabulous afternoon - we will definitely be returning. If I had to find a fault it would be the toilets but we were told they have had a serious leak under the floors and that it was in the process of being fixed so I wouldn't let that put you off.
Dickens Inn
The food here is absolutely excellent. Considering that there was a large group of us (8) on a busy Saturday, we all received our meals very quickly. The two girls working the bar seemed very lazy, but the polite young man rushing around serving more than made up for this. definitely worth a visit.
Dickens Inn
My family and I have visited this pub on several occasions and have never been disappointed. The waitresses who served us have always remained polite and helpful, along with the friendly bar staff. The menu is very large with a delicious and wide choice of foods, all at very reasonable prices. Definitely an enjoyable eat within a delightful atmosphere.
