Over the years this famous building has had many incarnations, ranging from a Russian consulate to the church hall where a certain Paul McCartney was once a choirboy and later gigged with his band. In 2009 it finally closed its doors but has been revived as a gastropub, a refuge for both diners and drinkers. It’s a characterful and atmospheric building, a mix of bright open spaces and secluded corners and is the place for good beer, good stories, good music with good friends and all kinds of events and functions. It’s open right through from 12 noon daily (11am at weekends) and there’s live music on Fridays and Sundays and a quiz night on Thursdays. For parties and special events, there’s a special function room space for up to 120 people and special buffet menus available. The main menu offers plenty of choice with sandwiches, salads, wraps and burgers as well as a range of pub classics and homebaked pies.
