Dropped into Dr Duncans with some old rugby-playing friends of 40+ years who meet weekly to enjoy real ale in various different Liverpool pubs. 2nd round was 7 pints of Cains FA - definitely "0ff" - tasted and smelt of vinegar, so they were taken back to the bar with a polite request for an alternative beer. Bar staff not interested. Manager announced there was nothing wrong with the beer. Total lack of interest of the fact that 7 guys who had been drinking beer for over 40+ years were concerned about the beer's quality. It wasn't as if we were after a a free pint - all 7 of the returned glasses of "FA were full, less a sip! The way our request was dealt with was very poor. It was a "take it or leave it" approach. Needless to say, we all left for the nearby Crown & Mitre which is a GENUINE Real Ale Pub. Dr Duncan's is Cains' Flagship pub but the staff running it did not demonstrate much interest in customer satisfaction or competence in keeping a good beer cellar. Sorry Cain's. Your beer is great but your "front of house" pub is not doing you any favours!

Dr Duncans
Dr Duncan's must rate as one of the best City centre pubs in Liverpool. The range of real ales is second to none, and the staff are always friendly and helpful. The interior of the building is truly worth an inspection, especially the beautiful 'tiled room'. As for the food, it can only be described as restaurant quality (but not restaurant price). No plastic menus, just a top quality varying menu from a top quality chef. Every visit is an enjoyable experience.
Dr Duncans
Dr Duncans is a wonderful breath of fresh air with regards to pub food. It does not deliver the standard "pub grub" but offers an extensive range of food from basic Italian ciabattas to Kangaroo steaks! Enough to satisfy every pallete and pocket. The service is excellent, the staff are incredably helpful and friendly and Thomas Rockcliffe the chef is a true wonder in the kitchen. Two big thumbs up!!!!!
