The food served at the EOP is better than that served up in the nation's most prestigious venues. Prices are modest and represent excellent value for money. The Chicken Breast Stuffed with Wild Boar Sausage Meat is orgasmic and the Steak and Kidney Pie is pure sex on a plate! Graham's jokes are predictable, I think he only knows about six so you get them all eventually. For a village pub in North Devon this has to be one of the Nation's Hidden Treasures. The anonymous reviewer must have a hidden agenda, of the numerous people I have recommended not one has had anything other than the highest praise for the Food and Atmosphere. Top job Graham and Sue.

I have personally eaten @ the 'Earl' on many occasions With Family & friends. Every time i have been Sue has out-done herself with the food, whether Bar-snacks or Full restaurant meal. Fantastic! and it keeps getting better. Not forgetting Graham Behind the bar (Trainee comedian) They both make you feel warm and welcome in this lovely village pub. Always a good night guaranteed. My wife and I read the review by, of course, anonymous, with some amusement, this had to be written by somebody who has not visited this pub, the most expensive item on our menu is duck breast fillet with a plum caramelised plum sauce for £11.50 and even allowing for the most expensive starters at £5.50 each and sweets at £3.75 this so called unhappy customers bill would not have reached well over £100. My message is this Mr. anonymous, if you have ever eaten here, and I don't think you have for one minute, show us your email address. Graham and Sue Levick.earlofportsmouth-pub.co.uk

I had a meal with my wife & 2 friends & I found the food to be reasonable but nothing wonderful. The service again was only acceptable. I find it hard to believe that the desserts are so called home made. The bill was well over £100 for 4 people & for a village pub I find this strange

I ate loin of lamb stuffed with spinach and pistacio nuts, served with a rosemary gravy and it was stunning. The Chef/partner of this old Inn is a genius, lets hope that the media dont spot her and make her a star.
