Lovely warm atmosphere on a rainy, grey spring day!
The young staff were welcoming and seemed pleased to help and give advice on items on the menu (which catered to all tastes, including vegetarians, I noticed).
Service was prompt and courteous.
My partner and I decided to move directly into our main course, although the selection of starters was adequate.
My wild mushroom risotto was really lovely! Served in a good sized plain white plate, it was served piping hot and carefully decorated. I could smell the mushroom aroma before my first forkful, and I was not disappointed. In my experience, it's fairly unusual to be able to pick out the freshness of the ingredients, these days. I could taste every piece of mushroom and the stock was definitely home-made. The Parmesan was used discreetly - no drowning out the other tastes in this dish!
My partner chose the lamb. It was very nicely presented and, judging by the clean plate, this too was a highly successful choice!
We had a long drive ahead, so chose not to have any of the wines. There's a more than adequate choice, though.
Finally, the highlight of a truly good meal . . . the chocolate tartlets. If these were the only item on the menu, they would be sufficient reason to return to The Enterprise!
