After a long gap of many years dining in this establishment I returned on a whim with a guest for a post Christmas lunch-time meal. It was still the delight it always had been - the atmosphere and surroundings are nostalgic and authentic - there's nowhere like it in the area which makes the experience unique. The service was friendly, unhurried, attentive, knowledgeable and un-intrusive. We felt valued. The tariff was reasonable and fair and the food faultless. A warm handshake was received on leaving and I won't hesitate to return and recommend. ***** (Five stars)

we just came back from spending a weekend at Lancaster, we found etna on our 2nd night just by chance, OH MY GOD everything about the place was outstanding, I had steak my husband had chicken in white wine sauce, both meals were delicious, we were recommended a sparkling rose wine which was lovely and had profiteroles for desert. all staff from being greeted at the door from the waiter who took our order and the owner who was sociable and funny were a pleasure, the best steak i had ever tasted. the whole experience was a delight.

A very mediocre experience.. The food is average, a little overpriced (the drinks especially so), and the service is not very attentive (my wife had to ask for the correct cutlery for her meal). In addition, the 'optional' service charge was added to the bill, making it a compulsory service charge. Surely it should be up to the customer to decide the value of the service, not the restaurant. Overall, quite disappointing.

Etnas holds a special place in our hearts - we had our first real date here - we always enjoy visiting, the staff are 1st class professionals without being too over the top - the owner is a true delight always willing to chat to all the customers! - The food is the ultimate delight and is always consistent as well as fairly priced. To recommend a dish isn't too difficult - Lemon Chicken everytime. Incidentally we now visit at least once a month - its a shame they can't cater for our wedding!

Discovered Etna on Saturday evening during a visit to Lancaster. To call it Pizza/Pasta is to undersell this place - yes the pasta was great, but it really is a proper Italian Restaurant with a full menu of what, going by our experience, is excellent, top quality, meat/fish/pasta etc, cooked to the highest standard. The best Italian food I've had in years - topped by a great atmosphere and a very convivial host. Reasonable prices, good wine list etc - I only wish they were in London where live - I'd be there every week.

Saturday 17th January 2009 I took my girlfriend Cassy and her daughter Fran and boyfriend Dwain to Etna's for my birthday bash. I can only say the food and service were excellent and we will be paying another visit in the near future. The food was cooked to perfection, hot and well prepared. May I say thank you for making my birthday bash a night to remember. JJ

I first went to Etna as a student in 1979 and now, 29 years later I am still going there and still enjoying the food. This place is authentic, cheerful, friendly, reasonably priced and above all consistent. Excellent pizza with the traditional Sicilian thin crust, really good chicken and pasta, superb stuffed mushrooms and excellent desserts (some of which are homemade) Good choice of wine and the owner (Dominic) is a real character and an excellent host. Hope to be eating here for many years to come!!

The thing that makes this restaurant is the charismatic owner. He is not only the genial host but oversees the kitchen too. He is passionate about Sicilian food and drink. It was very interesting to see his collection of herbs collected from the mountain by his summer house in Sicily. His wine cellar was a labour of love too! I had a gorgeous dish of aubergine, ham, and mozzarella with an unusual sicilan pasta. I guess the proof of the quality of Etna is the fact that its the oldest restaurant in Lancaster opening its doors in 1975 and still with the same man at the helm!! A must when in town.
