We were staying in Plymouth for two nights, 18/08/09 - 20/08/09 but ended up traveling to the mawgan porth area. The beach was absolutely amazing lots of features and very high currents, really good fun if you can swim. both lunch time and dinner time on both days we ate at the Fire Restaurant, what an amazing place, the menu was outstanding, the decor was really nice to have around and the waitress, well she was truly awesome, really friendly, good service and was completely flexible on ordering, she brought out small tasters, combined drinks and even sat down with us for a chat.
The girl that served us was telling us that she was visiting mawgan porth and found the restaurant and went in asked for a job and started the next day if anyone needs a job, great place.
Even for me a 17 year old it was still an awesome place how ever old you are there is something for everyone.
There is one downside working at Fire, the waitress hadn't been home for 9 months, so that can be an issue.
After my family had eaten at Fire she and I went off for a walk down the beach just a few meters away from the restaurant that was really nice, and got to know her very well. I would defiantly Travel from the midlands back to mawgan porth, an amazing place to visit and I highly recommend it to everyone.
We are going back in October again for a week this time and staying in Mawgan Porth and I can't wait to eat there again.

I practically lived here through-out the summer and could not have been happier. The food was quite spectacular (especially the pizza, which is made fresh on site and cooked on one of those stone ovens... authentic mmmmm!) and the general atmosphere was delightful.
Lastly i must recommend the hot chocolate. The perfect pick me up on a cold, wet, 'typically cornish' summers evening.
Visit if your in the area!!

Having decided to stop off at Mawgan Porth for something light to eat on our way home to Cheshire, we (2 adults and 2 children)found the whole village buzzing. It was Friday evening, and the annual Duck Race was scheduled for later on. We had initially thought that we would get something to eat at the Merrimoor Inn but it was full and there was a queue for tables. We spotted the Fire Bistro just opposite and went in. Unfortunately, we were told that unless we had booked, there were no tables available. We went outside and looked around for inspiration!. There were no other eateris in Mawgan Porth and were faced with looking for somewhere else completely or worse, getting something at a service station on the M5!. Just then, one of the waitresses (American) came out and offered us a small table situated in front of the TV. This suited my husband as the olympics were showing. We ordered our food and were then offered a 'proper' table in the dining room. Fantastic - right next to the window overlooking the beach. (I should point out that there were lots of tables outside and whilst it was a beautiful evening, it was too chilly to sit out).
I ordered the Thai fishcakes and my husband had fish and chips. Both meals were just incredible. I had recently ordered something similar at a restaurant in Watergate Bay, which I had enjoyed, but were not a patch on those at Fire. The children had a pizza and spaghetti which were great but the pizza was gorgeous. So much for a light meal! The children went on and shared a chocolate dessert and husband had vanilla icecream.
The service was great and the American waitress could not do enough for us. Toilet facilities also excellent!
We will be going back to Cornwall next year, and possibly again later on this year and will definitely return to Fire!

The food was superb and very reasonable. The waitress could not have been more helpful. Great atmosphere, great location and great food.

This bar/bistro offers a great deck area (for the summer) and the inside is tastefully furnished even down to local artists pictures. Recommend the Fish cakes or Tempura prawns for starter and follow it with either the Lobster or seabass. Didn’t try dessert so can’t comment. All in all an excellent meal with great setting (sunset over ocean)
