Just purchased a large cod at Frydales and very disappointed. The fish had a very high smell mingled with a smell of ammonia. on opening it up the smell was sickening and the fish flesh was a yellowy colour. My adult son took one mouthful and spat it out as the taste was vile. You had better check your stocks. I have had fish and chips here on several occasions which has been good but this has put me off recomending this shop again. I would have bought the fish back but taxi fares are not cheap.

Microscope anyone? (also beware of businesses giving themselves a 5* review)“When I used to live in the area, I used a chippy around the corner. Than Frydales opened up and I decided to try them out with a friend. We both ordered a large haddock and large chips. Wasn't very big, by far the smallest "large" portion of chips and the haddock was the smallest I've ever seen. Tasted alright thou.Customer Service: average, gets the job done.Speed of service: Fairly quick. (Than again it probably didn't take long to cook the small "large" haddock/anchovie?).Won't be going back there, there are a few other Chip shops close by and one around the corner. Also, the review below sounds really artificial. The person below them had an issue with the size of Frydale portions also.Frydales: Please check your competition!!Also stop writing reviews for your own business!”
An Angry Customer
The fish was very overcooked, I could have used it as a hammer! Chips are okay but the large is actually a very small portion.

I go to your chip shop for my partners meals and my grandkids meals. I only could have the chips which I love but being that i cannot have anything with wheat in and have to have gluten free things, I missed my fish. Now I notice you do gluten free on Mondays which I'm very pleased about. Now I can have my much missed fish and chips and being so close to Frydales I can have my fish and chips every Monday. Thank you for doing gluten free looking forward to having them.
