Seven of us went there for Mother's Day last year, made to feel really welcome, food was amazing. that was about third visit there, will book up again this year.My Mother who is 87 loved it there.. Just one comment I think they should give all Mother's a rose, makes for just a sweet touch.

Had my first meal at Gian Carlo's and truly enjoyed the evening. The staff were fantastic. It was a quiet night at the restaurant and we spent 2 and a half hours dining. The food was excellent. I have dined at a number of Birmingham's Italian restaurants and none have impressed me like this one. Food reasonable priced. I will definitely be returning. Fantastic!

Novermber 2008 Karen Went to the restaurant for a birthday celebration this was the first time my guests had been, we all had a fantastic night the atmosphere was very friendly. Umberto entertained us and recommended some excellent food for my guests. We all had a lovely evening and from this my friends have all recommended others, we would like to wish them all the success for their new location.

Love this place have been several times and love the food here the food always tastes fresh and the fact that you cane take your own wine makes this place the best!!! well done Carlos

I've been dining at Trattoria Gian Carlos for over several years and have never had a bad meal. Umberto and his family are very welcoming and give your evening that personal touch. You could pretty much ask for anything even though not on the menu and if they can do it for you they will! It's great being able to take your own alcohol as this reduces the cost of your meal hugely where as in most Italian restaurants you'd be paying over and above for a half decent bottle of wine, let a lone a good quality wine. There is an Off License just around the corner too. I would recommend the prawns or mushrooms to start and any of the steaks are great or if you're on a budget the pasta is fantastic too!

Lovely!! Found the restaurant through the good reviews on Sugar Vine. Thanks Umberto - what wonderful friendly service. We will be back when we are next in Birmingham

It is always a pleasure eating here. The owner, Umberto, is very lively and friendly. He often arranges themed evenings which are always good fun. His brother Renato, he of Renee and Renato, sometimes sings here. The food is always amazing. It may seem pricey but the cost of the mains includes mixed vegetables and potatoes. The cost of the bill is usually lower than other Italian restaurants as you can bring your own wine.

Simple style of restaurant, nothing too flashy. Very friendly family-feel service. Price - a little more than we had expected, but no complaints about the food. One gripe - restaurant doesn't serve wine, which is fine, but then charges £1.50 corkage when you bring your own. Hmm.
