I have been eating at Johns restaurant for quite a few years now , first in the China Palace and now in the Golden Palace, and it is the best.
No negative vibes from me, wonderful food, wonderful people.

My family and I visited the Golden Palace after reading the glowing reviews on this site and another. Either these people were all paid to write the reviews by the restaurant or they were made up by the restaurant themselves. This was our 1s tchoice of Chinese restaurant in Blackpool due to the references made to them catering for people with Wheat/Gluten intolerances, this was completely untrue, dishes could NOT be altered to cater for specific dietary requirements. Furthermore, the restaurant was freezing cold and we had to sit with our coats on. When we requested mayonnaise the waitress brought out sachets, all of which were clearly well past there used by date, as it came out orange and runny. The restaurant over all was tired and dated and nothing more than a below average takeaway trying to be something more than it is. I will never be returning and strongly suggest to anyone else they give the Golden Palce a very very wide berth.

I had the most appalling house special fried rice here, it was a real grease fest and although a regular visitor to Blackpool quickly learnt the lesson that, The nearer to the sea front the poorer the quality, my advice is either travel further afield or frankly change you choice of ethnic food as this was inedible.

After reading all the great reviews I thought I'd give this place a try.
Nice little restaurant, with an extensive menu, and the staff are friendly and helpful.
However, I don't really think the food was as good as it could have been.
I ordered the chicken noodle soup for an appetiser, and the Kellogg Chicken for a main.
The soup did not have much depth of flavour, although the chicken was very tender, which was nice.
The main, was crispy pieces of chicken, stir fried with vegetables in oyster sauce.
The Vegetables were nice and crispy, and the meat was well cooked, but I felt this sauce was too oily (almost like the chicken had been put in with the veg without being drained after frying) and lacked flavour. there was a distinct lack of aromatics such as garlic and ginger.
I had Fried rice and soft noodles for accompaniments, and these were also lacking freshness, I felt they could have been improved with a touch of sesame oil and maybe some spring onion thrown in at the end.
My Girlfriend had wonton soup and schezuan lamb, and she was equally as unimpressed. the sauce was pretty much exactly the same as mine.
Overall, this is a pleasant little restaurant with friendly staff and good for a cheap, quick meal, but it seems the chef is so used to tourists ordering English dishes like omelette, chips, and curry sauce that he has lost touch with authentic Chinese tastes, and is scared to produce big flavours.

Living in North Shore this one isn't really local to me. I do try ones nearer to me but I always end up going back! Trust me it really is worth the journey. The mixed starter is great, I love all the different specials. Meat content is great, portions always ample! Def my fav chinese in blackpool!!!!!

I was advised to eat here by a friend, and now only use John's Golden Palace, even when I moved further away, I have no problem driving to pick up my meal as its worth it every time. We always get a warm welcome and the food is top notch. This place is A1

I'm an ex Blackpool resident but now live and work in China. I brought my Chinese wife back to Blackpool last summer for a holiday.
As soon as we walked into the Golden Palace, the waitress, John's daughter recognised me. I had taught her and her elder brother and sister.
My wife and I were made very welcome, the service and the cuisine was absolutely first class during the many times we ate there.
I was able to drink authentic Tsingtao beer and my wife commented that the place felt just like 'home.
The ambience of the establishment is like that, John and his family make their guests feel at home and find time to check with clients to make sure that everything is ok.
We'll be back in summer.
