Hidden away behind the shops and Post Office on the main drag into Grasmere, Goody Blake’s is an eclectic little restaurant worth seeking out. It’s named after a character in a Wordsworth poem and chef patron Clark Adams has been manning the stoves here for a decade now. He promises customers ‘good food and plenty of it’ and his menus draw inspiration from far and wide. You might start off with mussels or camembert and move on to a lamb shank, a stir fry or a curry. Ostrich fillets make the occasional appearance too and fish is sourced from Scotland. Goody Blake’s is open seven days a week from 6pm until 9pm. There are two dedicated parking spots outside – or the larger car park across the road - and in the evening you can park at the school next door.
