A great looking pub in a beautiful position overlooking the Green. Pity its part of a chain, Chef and Brewer I think. Would be great if it was a freehouse like it was in the past. Still looks good inside but the food and real ale are what you'd expect from a big pub chain. Lack of care and quality. I still keep going back though!

We love the Grapes. The right balance between great food and good value. The perfect choice for when you want to come out with the family; never disappoints.

Pie And Peas
We have dined here a couple of times recently and have been really impressed each time. the food is always of a great standard and has never failed to please us. The surroundings an clientele also help make this an enjoyable evening not to mention the friendly and attentive staff. Thanks to all the team and see you soon

Myself and my Husband went to the Grapes for a light lunch, we both choice a salad, I went for the bistro salad which was £9.95. It sounded fantastic on the menu, but not cheap, when it arrived I could see straight away that the chicken was very over cooked and extremely dry. I was asked if I would like dressing which I did but there was hardly anything on it,the salad came with stilton which turned out to be shavings and very few at that, I was also supposed to get croutons but I didn't. My Husband said his was OK, but nothing special. We ordered another drink and I decided to go for a tia maria coffee, 20 mins later it still hadn't arrived, they were definitely not run off their feet,I complained and still had to wait another 10 mins. The pub was very quiet and yet there were lots of dirty glasses around the bar.We didn't enjoy our visit and definitely will not be returning.

There were a few mistakes made by the kitchen. The wrong meal was given to one of our party and part of a dish came out late. However the food was good and the problems were dealt with excellently by the professional front of house team. Therefore i would have no hesitation to recommend the Grapes. Great setting too.

The food was absolutely disgusting. The fish and chips was very watery and the pie and mash looked like it had been on a hot plate for hours.the veg looked like it had been stewong all day.Just dont go...................

good food shame about the service!
visited here for a meal on a weekday about 5.30 for the 3 course earl bird. Nice enough food but took AGES to come. Think 2and a half hours is a long time in which to have a meal (especially with a young child). Mentioned this as we paid - they said they were short staffed. We have eaten there a few times in the past and its always been the same. Sadly now won't be going back. Buck up your service the Grapes!!!

Enjoyed my simple dinner at the Grapes in Wrea Green last night. I spend a lot of time at fancy restaurants so its nice to have scampi and chips sometimes!
The Fine Diner
I had another excellent meal here recently. This place is dead consistent, really good food, local produce, simple, cooked well. My girlfriend and I love it here, we often drag other people along with us too! The lamb rump is often on the specials and it is fabulous. In fact, the whole menu is brimming with mouth-watering dishes. Service is really good, not what you expect in a pub at all, the waiting staff and bar staff are all real customer service professionals, they are always very polite, helpful and most of all, discreet. The setting is also very romantic - rustic and cosy. And if you don't live in Wrea Green, then the journey over there always builds the anticipation too. Can't believe they haven't got their menus on Sugarvine!
