My Husband and I have visited Green's on a number of occasions and this restaurant never lets us down. Once again a fabulous visit, the menu choice was brilliant I almost couldn't make a decision. In the end I went for the red pepper and goats cheese pate which was served with the most delicious rye bread, my husband opted for the black pudding scotch egg which was also delicious, for mains we choose the Moroccan chick pea parcel and sausages and mash both of which were outstanding. Service and atmosphere both also great and at around £20 per head including our drinks it doesn't get much better than that!

My wife and I went to Greens for something a bit different (neither of us are veggies) and to be honest we were a little disappointed.
Whilst the menu contained lots of enticing choices, the reality didn't quite match. The goats cheese starter didn't have a lot of goats cheese, the puff pastry parcel was very dry, and there was definitely not enough raita, and the cheese and sage sausages were relatively tasteless (think Linda McCartney standard).
As for the service, whilst I acknowledge that it was reasonably busy (ie not full but not empty either) I was rather annoyed that we had to wait in excess of 40 minutes between starter and main course, without any explanation.
In summary I think the concept of the restaurant (and its celebrity owner) are better than the reality. We've ticked it off the list and won't be going back.

Definitely NOT. High price & very little food. Snooty manager. Main dish sausage (2) & one scoop of mash potato - for around £11. I refused it & was told in a very condescending by manager that I don't have to eat it. The restaurant was full - reminds me of 'the king's new clothes' fairytale. The place to be seen whatever the cost or value.

As part of a birthday treat I took my wife and son to Greens last Saturday. The deep fried oyster mushrooms and black pudding was really tasty but the sausage and mash although nice we felt was a bit overpriced. The most disappointing part of the night was the attitude of the staff and the way in which we felt that every dish was rushed. The way in which the waiters hung around the tables and cleared the plates as soon as we had finished eating was more akin to a fast food restaurant than what we had hoped for.

I went to Greens for a Saturday lunch with my husband who is vegetarian and my 3 year old daughter. I have to say that I was not impressed by the person who greeted us. He looked at my child as if she was going to be a problem, which I was surprised about given that they have a children's menu. I would also point out that my daughter was extremely well behaved and quiet. On the plus side the food was marvellous and I would definitely visit again, but the welcome on this occasion left a lot to be desired.

Popped into Greens last night, happy to find out they had a fixed priced menu deal on (which isn't why we went), great choice, superb food. The flavours were excellent, and the portions sizes amazing particularly for a fixed priced menu. The meat eater amongst us, who was rather sceptical about going to a vegetarian restaurant, loved the tomato pepper and leek soup and thoroughly enjoyed the chickpea, potato and pea red Thai curry. The desserts were divine!
If I had to improve anything then I wouldn't have gone for the house white and the waiters could've cracked a smile and showed a little more enthusiasm, but it didn't affect our visit and with the price of the overall bill, well, you simply cannot complain.

The atmosphere and background music was relatively loud, which could be interpreted as "lively". The waiters were all very friendly and helped to create a positive atmosphere. While the food tasted very good, I thought it very much lacked in quantity, especially when considering the relatively high price. My main course came in a tiny portion of one small slice of nut loaf, and a small cup full of mashed potato - that was it!

This is a vegetarian restaurant owned by a non vegetarian for non vegetarians. The menu is very boring and any self respecting vegetarian could cook up a meal twice as good for quarter of the price. It's saving grace is that the staff are absolutely lovely and the service is excellent.

The all-vegetarian menu is small-ish with a broadly Eastern slant. Nothing too inspiring, but prepare to be pleasantly surprised: the chef has a know-how with herbs and spices you'd normally associate with somewhere far more pretentious and French. Every dish has at least three more interesting flavours than you were expecting. I had the famous bangers & mash, and it was outstanding in all areas. The downside was that it was, ultimately, bangers & mash: like most of the menu, it was unseasonal for summer and clearly inspired by meatier cuisine, and I tend to think vegetarian cooking is at its best when it dares to be different. Excellent food very rich and filling. My husband is a non vegetarian and really enjoyed his bangers and mash with chips and I chose a spinach and beetroot dish which was ab delicious. A bit pricey but definitely recommend this restaurant for a special occasion.
