Excellent food, good beer. Well worth a visit.
Came when it re-opened in 2007 and chef team completely changed since then. Still producing great food at sensible prices. Will definitely be coming back

Found this place by accident. Driving past it doesn't look anything wonderful, but once you get inside it is totally different. The welcome was great, the food terrific, and the whole atmosphere was relaxed and wonderful. Pricing was very good. Food superb, and one of the best pints of Tribute I've had in a long time. What made it memorable was the pub dog Stitch. So well behaved and those sorry looking eyes. We all wanted to take him home.

I have followed graham the head chef around for the last four years, and have to say it has always been first class. The food is always to the highest of standards.
I just wanted to say thank you for looking after us the other evening.
You haven't lost your touch.

The Halfway House at Grenofen is under new ownership and is West Devon's latest "gastro pub". The chefs come from The Dartmoor Union, Holbeton, and Tanners in Plymouth, and it shows - the food was absolutely superb on my first visit here. Neither my two highly discerning guests nor I could fault it.
Downsides? The bar area is a bit cluttered - the furniture is too big for the limited space. The staff were very friendly and helpful, but a little chaotic - perhaps because they're all new to the job...and there were a couple of strange characters hanging around the doorway as we went in, which could have been off-putting to some.
But overall our meal was very good. Beautiful local meat and fish, cooked to perfection with subtle sauces. And the price was very reasonable for a meal of such quality. The wine list is relatively limited but contained some good wines, and was excellent value.
I shall certainly go again.
