My partner and I had a great meal at Harry's Grill a couple of weeks ago. A busy Saturday night but nicely attentive and unhurried service, buzzy but easy atmosphere and delicious steak cooked to perfection. We enjoyed pre dinner cocktails in the ground floor bar before heading upstairs. A great place for a drink even if you are not having a meal! Certainly somewhere we will go again.

Food has been great here, good service and nice atmosphere. However, we recently made a booking for a Saturday night, only to be told when we turned up that we were expected half an hour earlier and our table had been given away. We definitely had not booked it earlier, and someone at the restaurant had clearly made a mistake. There was no apology given, no recompense or attempt to rectify the problem they had caused, only a rude implication that it was our fault. We had booked a week in advance. It totally spoiled what should have been a happy occasion for us, and we have lost faith in a local company. What a shame.

We normally eat in the other Harry's Bar on Longbrooke St, but when we heard the owners had opened a second one we had to go and take a look. The atmosphere is very calm, there's spanish/jazz style music playing at a subtle volume, which works really well with the dim lighting and candles in the lounge. The bartender made sure we were looked after before being seated and the cocktails were made with a level of care and attention we'd never seen before. When we were seated, the waitresses and the manager were very obliging, and the food was excellent. We managed to get a table of two on a busy Thursday night, so we advise booking! All in all a wonderful place to eat, Exeter's best kept secret!
