Visited on consecutive nights between Christmas and new year as I was so impressed with the first visit.An extensive menu with varying specials I selected pork loin served with lyonnaise potatoes, succulent tasty pork and the lyonnaise is a difficult dish often bland but they have it mastered here, as good as any michelin starred west end restaurant.The icing on the cake, (the homemade sweets are delicious) hmm it's between the fabulously kept ales and the very efficient smiling staff, whatever it is, they have a winning formula here.Happy to report that the pool table has gone replaced by yet more dining tables.The way they are going they will need to extend...

Excellent choice, after some disappointments at the menu stage, the sea bream with ratatouille was unavailable although still on the specials board, we asked for the plaice with ratatouille instead, ah , no ratatouille..I enjoyed a decent 8 oz sirloin slightly overcooked but still moist enough, my wife chose a chicken dish also nicely presented although too much vinegar in the salad dressing, she thought it nice enough.Excellent choice of local quantock and bay breweries ale. Slightly off putting but the only table available faced the pool table..it was busy for a Monday night though so well done Work in progress atmosphere wise but shows great potential and deserves to prosper

This pub/restaurant is one the of the most welcoming and friendly ever! Three of us spent a weekend up in North Devon and definitely agree that we couldn't have asked for a better 'local' to our campsite! The real ales selection were great, the food was lovely and the people even better...definitely worth a visit..and we'll be back again for sure!

Comfortable welcoming pub/restaurant which is both professionally and personally runwith care and flair by its owners. Puts many other venues in the coastal North Devon area to shame when it comes to having a comprehensive menu that is not reliant on frozen ready meals from Philip Dennis - as most in the area sadly are - and when it comes to service....

The staff are very friendly indeed and made me feel very at home! The food was excellent and all in all I felt I was in my local pub, home from home (which is Oxfordshire). Barbabra and staff were always happy to help I would recommend this pub to anyone! Loved it!

Spent the weekend in Devon diving. Went to Hele Billys 3 nights on the trot. The service and the food was outstanding every time. The staff were friendly and welcoming with a good sense of humour. Put this on the "must visit list" if visiting the area.

Staff were very very and flexible when we asked to move around several tables so that we could all talk together. The food, wine and beer were all excellent.
