We came in for lunch and as they were quiet, we were offered a private dining room at no extra cost. we sat looking over a small garden and fountain with a log fire burning. We felt like celebrities. We were looked after by a manic French lady who was the perfect host. we loved it...it's our new haunt!!

The setting of this hotel, in grade one listed gardens, with the tamar flowing below, is simply stunning. We had lunch on the terrace. Not another building in site. Some people were playing croquet on the lawn. The food was delicious, it did cost £29 for three courses. A top room here cost £400. So I think restaurant is subsidised by the rooms. It was just wonderful.
