My husband and I had a fantastic meal here on New Year’s Day – 1 January 2012. The restaurant has recently re-opened under new ownership (previously called Naseeb). We hadn’t booked, but we were offered a table straight away and made to feel very welcome by the manager and the staff. The restaurant is small but very comfortable; the décor is nice and they have a carpet so it’s not as noisy as these modern echoing “tiled” places! We had poppadoms and chutneys as a first course; the poppadoms were nice and fresh and the chutneys were delicious served on a little platter, mango, raita, onions and lime pickle. For out next course we had a mixed starter each, the kebabs were really nice, spicy and hot. Both were generous portions and served with salad. For our main courses we had a chicken kharai and a lamb Madras. Both dishes were lovely and hot and the meat was delicious. Again they were both very generous portions, served with rice and a sweet nan bread. I particularly like the Madras as it had a very good traditional style flavour – some places don’t quite get the spices right but this was perfect. We had wine with our meal, just the house white but it was a good quality and we enjoyed it.Throughout the meal the service was excellent, we didn’t have to wait between courses and the staff seemed friendly and courteous. We felt we had a lot of food, it was good value for money (under £40) and it was a nice evening out, we would definitely go back here.
