VEGETARIANS BEWARE!! This place is the pits when it comes to customer satisfaction and respect. I called the restaurant (or cafe more like it) before visiting to ask about set meals, the woman was cold, abrupt and rude enough to ask me to call back later because she was busy!! I went along out of convenience anyway. When my friend and I arrive we are ushered to a table by the same blatantly ignorant lady owner and shoved the menus. We enquire if the set meal for two could be catered to a vegetarian option for ONE of us, "no" we're told as "it's set as it is and cannot be changed!" Little Miss Misery moans. Astounded but by now very ravished we decide she will choose from the standard menu instead and I from the specials menu. We get to the point of ordering and are then told that I cannot order from the 'set specials' menu as it's for a minimum of two people!! I explain they have unreasonably refused to consider a meat free meal and that's why I've made the choice from two different menu's...help!! I ask the seriously ignorant owner is she willing to see customers walk out and go elsewhere! What does she do? Shrugs her shoulders pathetically and walks off ha ha. I told the waitress she wasn't getting paid for the drinks after wasting my time and left with a belly full of satisfaction the didn't get a penny of my wealth!! Ignorant, inconsiderate and resentful of customers if they don't tow her line. Headed for a delicious Indian mean instead and served a meat-free no hassle meal with polite, respectful staff. For the pleasure I gave a fat tip. Avoid Jumbo City please.

I'm sorry this is a customer who had a duck dish but ended up with food poisoning and have been of work since last Friday after having my meal on Thursday night but now getting advice from the Environment Department.

I have dined there before with workmates and often we get the excellent salt and pepper squid but this evening I went to Jumbo City with some friends from out of the City.
We decided to order the 'set menu A' for four. The staff were friendly and there was no problem changing the soup from the advertised Won Ton to chicken and sweetcorn. The soup was served piping hot and was very tasty. Next came the spring rolls and ribs which were absolutely delicious.
We had quite a wait until the main courses were served as the restaurant was quite busy but it was worth the wait. The egg fried rice was served and no fewer than five dishes brought out for us to share all of which were cooked to perfection. At £52 for four (£13 a head) the meal could not really be classed as expensive
My only complaint, if it could be called a complaint, was that there was so much food myself and my guests could not eat it all and even this was not a problem as the staff were happy to 'box up'what could not be consumed so we could take it home.
In my opinion Jumbo City is the top chinese restaurant in Liverpool and well worth a visit. After this visit my guests were of the same opinion.

Probably a touch more expensive than most of its Chinatown neighbours, but worth it. The food is excellent, fresh ingredients and no MSG glazed meats. Not only was the food great, but the staff were attentive and engaging. I've lived in Liverpool for nearly 10 years, and this place is undoubtedly the best of all the Chinese restaurants I've tried. Only Yuet Ben (Upper Duke Street)come close.

We have been to many chinese restaurants however we always return to Jumbo City. The food is consistently fantastic and the staff always pleasant. Would recommend to everyone.

Excellent food, best I've had outside Hong Kong (where I'm from). Has a good range of traditional Chinese food unlike most places that think Chop Suey is foreign (but Jumbo probably serve it aswell, good range).. Recommend for everyone

Exactly what i wanted, and expected. Very good standard of usual chinese food with a few interesting bits and pieces. Great value for money. Service slightly slow, but it was busy. Decor - as expected - clean, tidy, welcoming.
As close as you can probably get to a London china-town restaurant without going to London.
Would go back without hesitation, recommended.
