The Kings Arms on Askrigg main street is an imposing Grade II-listed building that was once owned by the renowned horse trainer John Pratt, who famously won the 1872 St Leger with ‘Imperatrix’. It’s also now an indelible part of Yorkshire Dales folklore as the location of ‘The Drovers’ in the original ‘All Creatures Great and Small’. The Kings Arms is still packed full of character with a striking open fire, flagged stone floors and old photographs and equine memorabilia spread throughout. It’s open for food and drink daily from 12 noon onwards and proudly showcase a diverse range of beers from the local village brewery and the surrounding area.
