i regularly visit the the kolkata lounge as i have found that no other food of this region matches this restaurants. Every presentation is faultless, from the pickles to the naans, from the sauces to the perfectly cooked meats. Delicious is the only way i can describe every dish i have tried and the chef has a very special talent. It is worth travelling to the Kolkata and the decor is perfect also, combining the warmth of interesting details in wood with elements of indian culture in a clean atmosphere.

Forget your normal curry house, this is the best by far! Great selection of meals - go for a combination dish and you can try 2 at once. i love the shathkora, with the lemon. I ask for it extra hot, and that's exactly what I get. In many other places, they see a female asking for extra hot and it always comes back medium. here you get what you ask for. Alcohol a bit pricey, but otherwise fantastic. Definitely will go again.

This is a great restaurant. Forget the baltis and go for some of the more unusual dishes - the curry with Indian lemon is amazing. great service and really good value for money given the consistently great quality of the food.

On Thursday 10th January we visited the Kolkata for the 2nd time in 4 weeks. Once again absolutely wonderful Food is excellent staff are very attentive but not overpowering. Very relaxing. Visit the Kolkata and you will not be disappointed. Not the cheapest but definitely the best.

We are currently living in Alabama USA, so couldn't wait to get home and have a good curry. I can honestly say that I am glad that we chose the Kolkata, the food was excellent. The decor is fantastic and everything was very clean. We managed to fit in two visits while we were over there; I had a Vegetable Handi on the first occasion and a Vegetable Thawa on the second. Both were full of fantastic flavours, and the presentation of all starters and main dishes was beautiful. Stirchley has moved on a long way from the old Balti houses with menus under the glass top tables of my youth, and my experience at the Kolkata shows it is moving in right direction. The staff were very friendly and we had excellent service. We are sure to go there again when we visit home, I highly recommend the Kolkata Lounge, and it is well worth checking out.

This recently opened restaurant (Summer/Autumn 2007)is very smart and modern inside. You are immediately made to feel welcome and comfortable by friendly service. There is an excellent menu choice and detailed descriptions of each of the various dishes available. What I like in particular is the novel concept of being able to order a 'combination dish' which comes in a divided service dish giving the customer the option to mix and match and design a meal that best suits their tastes. I personally went for the Chicken Jalfrezi and Lamb Bhuna which I can very much recommend!! The speciality dishes are also well worth trying too. Overall a very positive experience and will certainly return and encourage others to give this a go. Top marks!!
