About L’Aquila Prestwich

Housed in a distinctive black and white half-timbered building on the edge of Heaton Park in Prestwich, Italian restaurant L’Aquila opened in May 2021 on the site of the former Parkside Hotel. It’s been transformed into a smart new venue with a ground floor restaurant, a large bar area, an upstairs function room and a brand-new outside space. L’Aquila is also very much a family affair with both father and son closely involved in the day-to-day running of the business. Expect a traditional Italian menu with a modern twist. Lots of pizza, pasta, fish and meat choices with popular dishes including the Spare Ribs for a starter and the 28-day-matured Fillet Steak as a main. The food is accompanied by an ever-changing selection of natural, organic, biodynamic wines from small Italian producers, local craft beers and sustainable soft drinks and spirits. Open from 5pm every day except Mondays and from 3pm at weekends. L'Aquila now has a new sister restaurant in Sunny Bank, Bury.

Myself and my partner visited on thurs 31st October whilst on a visit to Manchester. We were staying at a local chain hotel and wanted to experience a local restaurant. We were greeted on arrival and shown to our table, my partner asked if she could have a cushion to support her back and the waitress ( Bianca ) said of course and provided a cushion for both of us which was a good start to the evening. Bianca came to take our drinks order and she was extremely pleasant and friendly, she told us that she loved our accents ( from south wales ) and told us she loved the Gavin and Stacey sitcom, so we engaged with her about that and had a good laugh, this continued throughout the evening. We had bread and olives and garlic bread for starters, both were big portions and we wish we had shared just one, it was lovely though. For mains I had the Penne Arrabiata and my partner had the Risotto L'Aquila, both were delicious and plentiful, really good portions, we also had a bottle of the house white wine which was very nice too. We were too full to have desert ! The ambience was lovely, plenty of pictures of Italy on the walls which was a nice touch, it made you feel you were there . Furniture and decor to a high standard giving a high end but welcoming feel. The food is fantastic and great value for money, much better value than Chain Italian restaurants. Bianca was an absolute delight , she is a credit to your restaurant and should be praised for being such a lovely person, she helped us enjoy a very lovely evening. to cap it all she even booked a taxi for us when we were ready to leave. All in all this is a fantastic restaurant and if we are ever in the area again will definitely return. Highly recommended, thank you

We have enjoyed many meals here and we will always be returning customers. The food is always outstanding and all staff are very friendly and attentive; nothing is ever too much for them. Our last visit was wonderful for our last date night before getting married and was treated like royalty. Cannot wait to come back again which I know will be very soon.

We ordered a meat cannelloni, which we expected to contain mince, but was made with Veal (baby cow). By objection my wife would never normally eat veal, and the waitress kindly offered to exchange the dish for a lasagna. The Lasagna was gratefully received but lacked seasoning. Not the best if being honest, very bland. We unfortunately were joined by a birthday party, who were in high spirits, can’t be helped, but led us to feel our visit on this occasion that we were DOOMED. We’ll be back but maybe skip the pasta dishes …

Fabulous Italian restaurant. The staff are very friendly and welcoming, the decor of the restaurant is classy and modern, and above all else the food is delicious. A great experience all round and all in our party of four had an excellent evening.
