Ma Boyle's Oyster Bar- Liverpool This is not a recommendation. Today I ate lunch here ordering fish and chips. The meal was served raw, the batter being cold and actually runny in places and the fish being cold and translucent. As I am five months pregnant and had eaten part of the meal I was concerned. I advised the staff of my concerns and was dismissed out of hand. The management refused me a refund on the basis that I had eaten part of the meal. The service and food were both shocking.

we tried Ma Boyle's for the first time today, having waited for 14 years working just up the road ! the homemade food was fantastic, delicious flavours, plenty of it and good value for money. we have already planned our next visit and what food to order next time!!!

I would not recommend Ma Boyles as the food we received was undercooked and tasteless. When two of my friends asked for their meals to be changed they were told "that is how we cook it." The staff are very unfriendly and their attitudes to the customers are extremely appalling. Four of my friends had the fish which was on offer and they all got food poisoning during the evening and for the most of the next day. I doubt very much whether they would stay open much longer if they had a visit from the hygiene standards agency.

Ma Boyles serves excellent pub grub. I can highly recommend the Scouse and steak and kidney pudding. The food prices are very cheap and the meals are a good size and provide excellent value for money. We will return.

Ma Boyles is not only the closest decent restaurant and pub to the Pier Head Isle of Man port but also a good price, good food and good beer establishment. Walking up Chapel St towards Moorfields Station (or just behind James St Station), the restaurant is just over the flat gravestones of St Nicholas's churchyard. I found this pub/restaurant whilst waiting once for a force 11 to abate to a force 10 when sailing home to the Isle of Man. Good good, good beer, good people

I found Ma Boyles a great place. The food was excellent, service was great and i felt really welcome. This is definitely the place to try if you enjoy good food and like to have a good time.
