I recently had a meal at the Maharajah in Liverpool with a large group of friends to celebrate my birthday. The meal was excellent and Ali and the rest of the staff really looked after us well. It was good to have the banquet and to be able to sample the wonderful variety of food that they have on their menu. As they claim on their website, their food is very different from most Indian restaurants in the UK, featuring seafood and duck dishes as well as the usual chicken and lamb. Their vegetarian dishes and side dishes are also delicious as well as their range of breads and rice. Try the dhosas! I would also recommend their seafood soup and their ‘rice pudding’. Just writing this makes me want to go back for more!

look, I know a thing or two about curries, after all I originated from Bradford, We called at Maharaja on 28/06/11. ordered a sheek kabab for myself, we actually shared it.by heck it was rather nice.infact it was succulent and wonderful.not deep fried as some restaurant do.the curries,a beef and chicken, well, hefty portions for a start. tasted delightful, meat well cooked and fell apart in your mouth, nans all fresh.must try the chili nan..its good..now the hygiene, excellent..,everything and everywhere especially clean and tidy, staff could not do enough to make the dinning experience a welcoming change, well worth what we paid for the meal.the beer was good as well. .enjoy..we will visit it again the next time were in L/Pool.(living in Harrogate now)

Truly amazing! Went today with my Mum for the Business Lunch, do not judge a book by its cover. The restaurant itself looks a little run down, especially in the shoddy Liverpudlian weather but the food was fantastic. We were in and out in about an hour, perfect for a quick lunch. The best Indian food I've had.

This is the best Indian restaurant I have been to in Liverpool by a mile. It is the only restaurant I have been to in Liverpool where the menu reminds me of being back in India. The food is cooked beautifully, service is excellent with very helpful staff and the setting is very pleasant.

Went to the Maharaja with two vegetarian friends, and shared the vegetarian banquet (even though I'm not a veggie). The food and service were fantastic, and I experienced dishes I had never tried before (eg Indian soup). The restaurant is very good value for money, and I would certainly go there again, when I visit Liverpool.

Incredible food! The only Indian restaurant in Liverpool offering authentic South Idndian Keralan cuisine.
My partner and I opted for the Fish Molly @ 6.95 with 2 large steaks of kingfish soaked in a gravy of finely sliced ginger, green chillies, vinegar and freshly squeezed coconut milk - fragrant, fresh and light. We also had the Beet Cheera Pachadi @ a bargain £4.95 full of fresh spinach, beet root and thick yogurt sauce of garlic, tomato, red pepper with mustard seeds and curry leaves - again light and delicious.
With food this genuine and healthy there is no reason why other Indian restaurants cannot follow suit instead of the all too common dishes swimming in fat!
Possibly the freshest and tastiest Indian take aways we've eaten. Highly recommended. *****

Went last night and the food was fabulous, the service good and the restaurant although not in the best part of town was really quite nice inside. I would definitely go there again and would recommend it to anyone. Best Indian food in Liverpool.

Food and service excellent, highly recommend the Prawn Mango Curry and Chicken butter fry. This is not your ordinary Indian restaurant, the food is a subtle blend of southern spices, the flavours are delicate and mouth watering. We will be returning very soon.
