Went to mama Mia Bradford last night and was impressed by friendly welcome by Brian the top waiter, not to mention the large portions of very tasty rich Italian food it made my 40th birthday.

I know that many people when asked to name an Italian restaurant in Bradford city centre would instantly name the one in the Bradford’s West End tucked in between the kebab shops, bars and curry houses - which is endlessly packed out with diners too lazy to explore further afield - but if you walk just another five minutes into town you’ll be heartily rewarded by coming across Mamma Mias on Upper Piccadilly. I ended up in Mamma Mia’s on a weekday evening and was bowled over at how brilliant it was. Delicious food, excellent ambience, and fantastic wine list. It’s a great place to take a large group of friends for some fantastic unpretentious dining - but also I would recommend it for romantic evenings with that special someone. Would thoroughly recommend the pizzas - with authentic toppings and deliciously fresh and thin bases - a true Italian experience. I would recommend this restaurant in a second - and will definitely go back!

When one thinks of authentic, flavour-filled world-class pizza, only one place comes to mind. Forget the Ivy in Beverley Hills, The Cipriani in Venice or even Scallini in London. Mama Mia's pizza in Chapel Allerton makes those places her bitch every time. Lets start at the bottom - literally. The dough base. Not too thick and bready like those "other places" and not so thin that the pizza falls apart like some places i could mention, but i wont. Basically, the dough is perfect. Lets move on to the tangy tomato sauce. A perfect blend of herbs and spices. A closely guarded secret that Mama Mia's great grandmother probably invented a hundred years ago back in the old country. Bursting with flavour, simmered to perfection before being generously spread over the dough. Next is the cheese. Certain other places use cheap, mass produced makro cheese by product. Not Mama Mia, who takes pride in her cheese. Milked from baby cows and carefully mixed and set into a cheese that puts award winning french cheese farmers to shame and sprinkled on top of the critically acclaimed tomato sauce. No pizza is complete without a vast array of toppings, and at Mama Mia's your toppings requirements will be satisfied every time. It is almost a "krypton factor" like challenge having to choose which exquisite vegetable or meat to add as they are all so good. My personal favourite is mushrooms and pepperoni, although every topping is superb. Words cannot express the culinary-explosion that takes place after the first bite. This pizza has heroin like qualities, and once you've tasted it, you're hooked for life. Like a shark tasting blood for the first time, Mama Mia's pizza actually alters your body chemistry as neuro-transmitters in the pleasure centre of the brian are overloaded with seratonin in an extasy fuelled chemical explosion. There are some out there who would disagree with me, but once they taste Mama Mia's creation, even the harshest critic will be turned. Mama Mia's is an institution that will live on from generation to generation. Hungry people worldwide have flocked to Chapel Allerton to taste what some have called "The greatest Pizza ever made" Robert Serr
Mamma Mia
I have been going to Mamma's for quite some years firstly with my parents and now with my husband. He proposed to me here and Nella and Giovanni (the proprietors) were guests at our wedding. The food is gorgeous and very well priced. The service is very friendly and one of the better Italian restaurants in the area.
Mamma Mia
I have been visiting Mamma Mia for many years with my wife. The restaurant is run by Giovanni and his wife Nella and serves traditional Italian food. The premises have been recently redecorated and are clean and tidy. The food and service are very good but car parking, which is on street, can occasionally be difficult.
One to try !
