I went with friends for a birthday treat. I have been several times over the last few years but feel that it has definitely lost its spark. The food was good although could have been better. The service is what let the evening down. The staff are polite but quite sullen. We were not asked if we wanted desert. Two desert menus and a specials blackboard were put on the table with no explanation. Disappointing to say the least.

We visited this place on a family celebration, my husband, myself and our four children. Despite being the first to arrived we were seated way at the back near the kitchens and the toilets (presumably because we had young children?) We likened it to eating in a dingy basement. IF THEY EVER TRY TO SEAT YOU THERE, FIND ELSEWHERE TO EAT! The food was good and fairly priced, the wine was expensive for the quality and the staff moody and uninterested. I want to give the place the benefit of the doubt but can't help feeling sad that we wasted our precious time together there. 4/10

Fantastic food. I was visiting the restaurant for my first time a week ago and it was one of my best experience regarding the food and service. i will definitely visit this place again.

The food is fine, the service however is shocking! We were frequently left for very long periods with no drinks or food and when mentioned to staff, one of them proceeded to shout across the restaurant at us in front of customers!!

not recommended at all, made a complaint about the service and one of the members of staff (A women with curly hair) shouted across the restaurant at me after walking away from me as i tried to explain the problem as she continued to shout she moved across the room to me and shouted in my face, i have never experienced such low standards of customer service. avoid at all costs.

Was utterly disgusted by the behaviour of the staff at this restaurant - in particular a very aggressive lady with frizzy ginger hair.
To summarise, my wife was verbally abused in front of both myself, my friends, and the rest of the restaurant. Very disappointed and will not be returning.
At the beginning of the evening everything seemed ok, but shortly after we arrived it was noticeable that the number of people in the restaurant was going affect the service. We were sat down to choose our food and left to contemplate the situation for a further 30 minutes.
After choosing our food we noted that several people around us that arrived later were not only served sooner, but also had food arrive, and subsequently leave quicker, all before we had finished our main course.
At every opportunity following this we tried to convey our disappointment with the staff.
At the end of meal we tried to discuss this issue with the first available member of staff. This apparent "mute" left mid-conversation to acquire somebody who could comprehend the English language. At this point a lady (ginger, frizzy hair) arrived and positioned herself immediately next to my wife. Within 10 seconds of the conversation starting she interrupted the conversation asking if we were unhappy with the food OR unwilling to pay. Given these two options we jointly agreed it was 'unwilling to pay'. In reality it was not unwilling to pay but simply we were unhappy with the service - but we were not given this option.
This caused significant issues within the restaurant and we were then surrounded by several members of staff. This was not only uncomfortable but very confrontational and aggressive from a customer service point-of-view.
Soon after this I heard one member of staff demand why we had sat through 2.5 hours of the meal, eating and drinking what we had. This was not the point. Our argument was in the time it took, then subsequently aggravated by the rude members of staff. At this point I asked why they were being so aggressive to which the reply was barked at me "we are trying to run a business" - not very well was my reply!
Having said all this, one senior member of staff kindly gave us a £20 discount, something we neither asked for or needed, but this at least acknowledged the continued abuse we received whilst trying to leave. Personally I would have paid the full bill given the quality of the food, but felt abused and angry that we were being accused of being difficult customers when all we wanted was to be served within a respectable timeframe.
I will not be returning again, despite the excellent quality of the food.

I visited with a group of friends, we had to wait for 1hour from sitting down before being served our starters and then they forgot one order. When our main meal arrived, my pizza was swimming in grease and my friends 'Tuna' pizza was rock hard and barely had any tuna actually on it, we did complain at this and were told that they would talk to the chef, but we didn't receive any feedback from this complaint or any money off our bill. I wont be going back to this restaurant and wouldn't recommend it to anyone. The competition is hotting up in st.annes, with many great restaurants opening, so I think Margherita restaurant will need to pull their socks up or keep loosing business!

Went to Margherita this evening for our Twins' 19th birthday.Although we had booked a table we were put in the back where the open kitchen is. Very loud in there with cooking smells. Very unpleasant. we have only ever been seated in the front before which we liked. Had we been seated in the front tonight, we would have stayed all evening, but because of the awful table we were given ,we had a main course and left.

Excellent food but the service leaves a lot to be desired!!! Booked a table for 8.30pm and wasn't seated until 9pm. Long wait for food but a nice meal.
