About Mere Court Restaurant

Located in Mere, near Knutsford, in the heart of Cheshire, Mere Court Hotel was originally built as a wedding present for William and Amy Dunkerley in 1903. It has now been lovingly and skilfully restored as a four-star deluxe Country House Hotel with beautiful grounds, an award-winning Wedding Venue, a Conference Centre, an AA Rosette Restaurant and 34 rooms. As part of the original house, the restaurant offers a unique and special dining experience and is the perfect setting for an intimate meal, business dinner or celebration. The a la carte menu offers the best seasonal fare with a wide range of quality wines from around the world and on Sundays a traditional roast dinner. And where better for a tranquil afternoon tea with homemade scones, tasty cakes and sandwiches with a choice of indoor or outdoor dining.

Sunday afternoon tea. Tea and sandwiches were good. Champagne so so. Cream not clotted. Scones a little heavy, too much flour. Service was fine.

Had afternoon tea here yesterday and it was lovely. Big pot of delicious tea, homemade cakes and scones with cream and jam. Scones were exceptional... best we've had in ages. Would definitely recommend.

Had a lovely afternoon tea. The hotel was lovely, the staff very attentive. The sandwiches were fresh and a nice variety, as were the cakes and home name scones. All round, a very nice afternoon tea in pleasant surroundings. Would definitely recommend.

Spent a wonderful couple of hours here recently for a birthday afternoon tea treat! The food was exceptional! Various freshly prepared sandwiches, cakes and scones! Great selection and all delicious with probably the nicest scones I have ever had at an afternoon tea venue! Love the ambience, characterful building with original features! Actually feels like you are transported back to Austen times enjoying a refined tea with delicious sweet and savoury victuals! The grounds are beautiful and tranquil, the water features add to the calm and serenity, I love this little tucked away gem of a hotel! The waiter was so attentive within being obtrusive! We felt very special for a short peaceful time away from daily life! I totally recommend this experience and it is worth the drive out to have a delightful time away from it all to share with a partner or friends and family.

Been to Mere twice now .Once for Afternoon tea and the 2nd time for Sunday lunch. Enjoyed both visits immensely. Food was beautiful and plenty of it. Staff were lovely. The only criticism we have is that service can be a bit on the slow side but the food certainly makes up for the wait.

I took my Grandaughter for the Afternoon Tea at Mere Court and as usual it was excellent! The only drawback I could say was that the ham sandwich came with mustard already on it and neither of us like mustard! I think in future it would be sensible to leave the mustard off the ham sandwich! Annie our Waitress was ever so friendly and helpful! I have been about 4 times now for Afternoon Tea and it is always superb! X
