I've been going here for years β I remember when it was still an artists studio. I love the cosy feel, the booths, the decor which is a lot more than the ubiquitous fishing net, although it has that as well. From the picture of Marilyn Monroe, to the paper money from around the world, to the endlessly fascinating photo-montages of historic pictures of the town, there's something interesting in every nook and cranny.
The food is wonderful. We did a taste-test and found their Dover sole to be easily the best in the town β huge and moist. The vegetables are some of the best, too. I especially love the Cornish smokies starter and the Mermaid Mess dessert. Also try the surf 'n' turf. The staff are very friendly. You can relax here and, for us, it's like coming home.

recently visited the mermaid on my last trip to the UK, and as usual the food and service was absolutely fantastico, the whole feel about the place and all the staff is as recent visits always first class, and the food is to die for and presentation second to none. Itβs truly a must place to visit when in St. Ives

Can recommend Mermaid for a good lunch - great sea food at reasonable prices, friendly and helpful staff. Have recommended it to friends who have confirmed our opinion. Evening menu looks good- will certainly return
