Recently booked a table on a night when they were having a casino night (the waitress gave us the option to join this evening and details of prices et, however we declined). We were the only two in the restaurant. On a positive note the hotel is clean and welcoming and our wine was brought into the bar where we were sitting prior to the table being ready. The dining room had little atmosphere and no music which might have helped but they had linen napkins which was nice. Bread roll somewhat stale, first course of black pudding very nice, my friend's whitebait came without lemon but was brought on request. Mains - well, veg arrived without any serving implements, trio of meats - beef was good but other two meats very dry and over cooked with lots of peppercorn sauce. Potato a little al dente. The wine was good and it was £61 for two without dessert or coffee. Our complaints were noted but that is all. I couldn't recommend this as a way to spend a pleasant evening I am afraid.
