no atmosphere-very small, but nice portions for a la carte-not much selection-expensive wine list for helston area-very good, although a bit over the top service-considering the amount of excellent restaurants in the area, Nansloe needs to get a grip-small cottage hotel, but no owner input to their public-won,t go there again in a hurry.

Nansloe Manor ruined our wedding night.
We discovered Nansloe Manor while on a trip to Cornwall to plan our wedding in September last year. We made our booking for our wedding night after taking a look round, which included paying a £100 deposit. We received a letter from the hotel, confirming our reservation and stating that we had entered in to a contract with Nansloe Manor and that should we not arrive, we would be charged the full amount.
When we arrived at Nansloe Manor at around 1:30am after our wedding, we found the place eerily dark. The taxi driver dutifully went out in search of the doorbell for the night porter, but there was none to be found. Two separate directory enquiries returned the wrong number, and the taxi driver's friends and associates also did not have the number. I eventually managed to locate the correct number using my iPhone, but the phone rang out. I rang again in the hope that it would spur someone to answer, and a sleepy voice picked up the call and sounded surprised that we had a booking. He asked for the name of our booking and then said that he'd be there in five minutes.
Some time later, a car pulled up and a young man in his early twenties trudged out and proceeded to unlock the door while the taxi driver unloaded the car and my wife waited inside it.
I pulled the chap aside and pointed to my wife (still in her wedding dress) and expressed my concern at the rather poor show given that it was the most important day of our lives. I asked where the manager was. The YTS reject replied that he /was/ the manager. I knew this was going to be tough, so I told him that I had no desire to argue now and would take it up with him in the morning.
We were led up to our room which was pretty cold. I asked if the heating could be switched on, but the manager said that the system had gone off so that he'd have to bring us a portable heater. We retired for the night.
In the morning, the manager had left an envelope on the breakfast table for us, claiming that it was a small gesture for our trouble. He was right. It was a small gesture. Inside was a £50 voucher. After breakfast, my wife went upstairs and I asked one of the staff to bring the manager. I slid the envelope across the desk and told him that this "gesture" didn't cut it because we weren't coming back. In fact, we weren't going to spend another night in this place. He gave me a teenageresque shrug and said that he might as well credit it against the balance we had to pay. He said that they did wait for a short while the previous night and then went home because he thought we weren't coming. I told him that we had already paid a deposit, so that should have tempted him a little bit, not least because we weren't advised of a curfew. I then asked him if he was married, to which he replied that he wasn't. He went on to say that it didn't say on their computer system that it was our wedding night, which was pretty stunning considering we had not only stated this when we booked and paid the deposit, but no less than a week ago when we asked if they would be able to arrange transport from the wedding venue to the hotel (which will come as no surprise that they were unable, unwilling and no doubt completely incapable of doing). We were advised by the manager that there was no way of escalating our complaint and that any correspondence we sent would end up at the hotel anyway, effectively indicating that our complaints would never be heard.
If you want a great place to spend your wedding night or indeed any other night when you feel like some quality service, avoid this place. It's exceptionally expensive and isn't worth it. The owners and clearly the management don't care even if they are ruining your wedding night. Don't give them your money, they don't deserve it.

My husband and I went to Nansloe Manor, Helston for lunch today, 14th November. What a memorable experience, from the moment we entered the hotel the staff were so welcoming and efficient. The food was delicious and we asked to see a sample dinner menu as we were so impressed and will be coming again. The decor and surroundings are impressive. The prices reflect the standard of quality of the food and service that you receive. We are almost afraid to advertise it as we'll never get a table again.

I recently spent a couple of nights in this new superb hotel in Helston and enjoyed a five star dinner. The decor, menu and service were excellent and the food worthy of any top London restaurant. A truly memorable dining experience - you must try it!

We went for a meal at the Nansloe Manor, Saturday 29th Nov 08. It has only been open for a couple of months after being closed for a number of years. It really has been renovated to an extremely high standard. The whole experience was absolutely superb!
The dining room was a lovely, large, modern airy room with vast windows overlooking the grounds.
We had 4/5 courses, as they provided a small mushroom soup bas a pre-starter, and we also chose to share a cheese board after our desserts.
The waiting staff were excellent - attentive without being obtrusive.
All of the courses were beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. We had cauliflower soup and pork belly; duck and ragout followed by bread & butter pudding and chocolate fondant and finally the cheese board.
When my husband booked, he mentioned that it was a special occasion, and they presented us with 2 complimentary glasses of pink champagne toward the end of the meal, which was a lovely touch.
It is not cheap - you're not likely to get change from £100, but it is worth every penny.
I would definitely recommend it.
When we went it was quite quiet, but the more people that hear that it's open and how good it is, the busier it will become, I'm sure.
We will definitely be going back - and soon!

Firstly, the staff were very good at making us feel very welcome from when we arrived until we left.
The food? We recently ate out at a celebrity chef's restaurant and seriously thought it couldn't get any better. The food at Nansloe Manor was to prove us wrong, and to think it's only on our door step.
The meat (Wood Pigeon, Lamb Chump and Duck) was cooked to perfection and the seasonal vegetables were out of this world. The price was a bit more than we would normally pay to be honest, but worth every penny. We'll definitely be back for more as soon as we can.

Absolutely loved it! Will be going again. Everyone for so friendly and even though there were only two of us, when there were bigger parties staying, we were so well looked after.
Food was amazing. Decided to eat in the first night - it was so delicious, we booked in for the next night, too!
