A small local pub with food way above expectations and some good ales.
A varied menu includes pub favourites alongside more exotic fare; butterfish steaks, moroccan lamb casserole and more.
Occasionally game is available, and this is very local and top quality. Wild rabbit with mushroom is fantastic, as are the partridge with bacon and the venison.
The decor is dated, but the welcome is warm, as is the large fire in the grate.
