Birthday do march 2017. Food nice and service good staff all friendly but what a huge let down. 3 of our party were severely ill during the early hours after the meal. We had no alchohol and nothing else to eat that day and only got together at the meal. The 3 all had chicken dishes calzone and kebab. They were young fit extremely healthy young adults and two of them were really very ill. It doesn't bear thinking about if it had been an elderly or very young person or someone with an underlying health problem. We will never go there again. Those that ate the beef meals were fine.

PROS:Great atmosphere and staff, I liked the thin base pizzas and good selection of drinks. Kids get to make their own pizzas which they loved doing.CONS: Disappointed with over a 2 hour wait for food on a Wednesday night just to get overcooked dry chicken, raw blood oozing lamb that was requested to be medium to well done, under cooked mince and cold meatballs in hot spaghetti.

Went this eve for my birthday meal, 30.9. However, after Nicolas being recommended by a few of my customers, I have to disagree.
I ordered the mussels in garlic and white wine sauce, I expected at least a finger dip bowl with bread. No. I had to ask for bread, and the sauce was dreadful, Elmea reduced.
It did not get better.
I asked for a bribery med, knowing that places undercooked, I got . A bribery rare to med rare, which is actually what I wanted, good job, hey
We did complain nicely, and they did reduce the bill.
However, when using get one night off per month, and a birthday eve, it is not acceptable.
No, I would not recommend, or try again.
Very poor.

I use my tastecard here all the time and I have to say that it is the best Italian in Liverpool for both food and price. The staff are very nice and the service is fast, don't waste time with Ask Italian or any others when the best llready exists.

I was in the area on business and found Nicolas via Tastecard. Both the food and the service were excellent and the atmosphere was friendly. I would certainly recommend it and will eat there again.

I went to Nicola's on Friday the 4th of February and am afraid to say i had a real bad experience and was left feeling embarrassed after inviting a friend all the way from town to Waterloo. I ordered Gambas and these turned out to be ex frozen, probably steamed and rubbery with a salad dressing, no garlic sauce, probably a thousand islands dressing and the presentation left lots to be desired,.... six prawns, that sauce and a withered salad on the side, then the main course was pork in a nice creamy sauce, but alas, the pork was so over cooked, it crumbled in my mouth... on complaining to the waiter, he said sorry..... and sent another waiter to attend to us..... I will definitely not be returning or recommending the restaurant..

We went to Nicolas the Friday before Christmas. Although they were very busy with large parties, we had excellent, attentive service, fantastic food with large portion sizes, and all in a lively pleasant atmosphere. The bar area has large comfy sofas to relax and chat before or after your meal. Thank you Nicolas, a lovely evening.

Went for first time NY eve, It was early on, Say about five oclock, Asked to be early because they where busy later! Ordered quickly, Starter of Prawn Cocktail took about 25 mins to arrive, Served on a plate, Plenty of Prawns, Poor chopped salad on one side, Contained Cucumber, That i hate, But all chopped up so could not remove it! And a little drizzle of sauce! Main course of what was really fish and chips, That where the frozen kind! With the same Salad as with the Prawn cocktail! At of a cost of about 16 pounds, Friend tried the Lasagna, That was bitter and dry, We waited 40 mins for that! All in all pretty poor food! Staff where nice! Wont be going a second time!
