No. 1 Canal Street brings a fresh new dining option to Manchester’s Gay Village. It’s the second venture for Lisa Kettle and Danielle Condron, who have transformed The Bridge Pub & Dining in Sale since taking over the reins last year. The new venue is light, bright and airy and serves modern British food with an Asian twist. So starters range from Manchester Rarebit (Boddingtons and Lancashire on sour dough toast with red onion jam) to Seasonal Tempura Vegetables with a wasabi crème fraiche. Likewise main course options include steaks and battered cod as well as Seared Tuna Sashimi and Chicken Katsu Curry. Sandwiches are also an option at lunchtimes and there is a special two-course lunch deal available Monday to Saturday too. The food offering is complemented by a concise but well-chosen selection of wines by the bottle and glass. No.1 Canal Street is open every day from noon until late serving food, and from 9.30am on Saturdays. The dining area can accommodate up to 60 people and there’s also a small bar area and outside seating.
