Award-winning Scottish cuisine in the historic surroundings of Edinburgh's Scotsman Hotel.
About North Bridge Brasserie
North Bridge Brasserie is the AA-rosetted restaurant at Edinburgh's historic Scotsman Hotel. The listed building was home to the Scotsman newspaper until 2001 when it was transformed into a luxury five-star hotel. North Bridge Brasserie is open every day for breakfast, morning coffee, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner and offers diners seasonal Scottish cuisine delivered by Executive Chef Paul Hart and his team. Paul has worked with Raymond Blanc and Simon Hopkinson and is recognized as one of Scotland's top chefs. The evening a la carte might include starters such as Clava Brie tart with smoked raisin, saffron pickled onion and butternut squash and mains like Roast rump of Borders lamb with mutton stovies and spring artichoke barigoule. The food is ably complemented by well-chosen wine and whisky lists.
Spent Hogmanay at The Scotsman and the North Bridge Brasserie is the hotel’s restaurant. We ate there on two nights – standard a la carte meal on the 30th and the six-course banquet on the 31stand were impressed. The hotel was created out of the old Scotsman newspaper offices so of course it’s packed with the building’s original features, the restaurant being no exception. It has both a bar area and a brasserie plus a mezzanine level with tables too. Friendly staff and efficient service. Recommended.
