A first class restaurant in a first class hotel. Its only fitting the best hotel in town has a Michelin star. The Number One restaurant has its own entrance and is at basement level. Service was as you would expect and the excellent menu was delivered well. Wine list covered all bases.

I really cant recommend No 1 enough, as soon as you walk through the door your experience begins.
Having owned a Michelin starred restaurant myself I know how hard you have to work to achieve this standard. There are a few good restaurants in Edinburgh, No 1 is my favourite with Kitchens and Wisharts very close behind.
Brian and his team pull out all the stops every service so much so that I had my wedding meal with him and what a fantastic day that was... thanks men especially appreciated our names in chocolate on the plates... what a meal!!! as always above all the rest.
The Travelling Gourmet
I dined at Number One in early June 2005 and the taste still lingers. Like all the best recipes, all the best ingredients are here. This is, as yet, an unrivalled Chef's Tasting menu. Take the exceptional food of the Georges at the Pompidou Centre in Paris, the best unhurried, courteous and professional service, marry this in perfect harmony with the constant rich and welcome bombardment of perfectly portioned courses and match it all together with fanciful yet simple flavours which are heightened to perfection by a safe but sometimes slightly mischievous pairing of wines: even a simple champagne as an usual but clever aperitif. If you see somebody gleefully smiling in one of this restaurant's dimly yet adequately lit corners, it will be me; again and again! 10 out of 10!
