Situated right by the clock tower in Crouch End, O's Thai Café takes its name from owner and head chef Somchai Kantavanich, helpfully nicknamed ‘O' for short. Prior to opening the venue in 1997, O worked as a designer in the fashion industry and his flair and eye for detail is evident throughout this ‘designer canteen'. The pale wood floor is raised a metre above street level and there's a glass-fronted, wedge-shaped and cream-walled dining area. A team of three Thai chefs produce authentic and affordable food that's served in a buzzy and lively atmosphere. O's Thai Café is open for lunch and dinner every day, except Monday lunchtimes. There's a choice of menus including a la carte, set lunch and dinner menus and blackboard specials such as Sea Bass Chu Chee, whole Sea Bass fried or grilled and topped with 'chu chee' red curry coconut sauce, vegetables, fresh lime and sweet basil leaves and served with rice. The wine list is carefully chosen with a selection that's robust enough to complement the spicy Thai food.
