About Oscars Wine Bar and Bistro

A York favourite for many years now, you’ll find this cosy bistro and bar right in the centre of York on the cobbled streets close by the famous Minster. It’s open every day right through from noon until 11pm (midnight at weekends) and alongside a wide range of quality cocktails, wines, beers and spirits there’s a menu offering something for everyone, including a great selection of burgers, steaks, salads and their best-selling Yorkshire Philly steak sandwich. Oscars also has outside dining space to the front and side of the building where you soak up the buzz.

Had a very nice lunch, my mum is dairy and gluten intolerant and they made her plain grilled chicken and chips with a side salad which she really enjoyed, my friend and I had Cajun chicken it was delicious but you used to put a side salad on the side aswell as the mushrooms and onion rings but we didn’t have any this time it was really missed it just completes the dish. But despite that it was a lovely lunch.

We booked a meal at Oscars for our staff meal. From the initial inquiry, to the booking and the meal, the staff were extremely helpful and accommodating. There were 16 members of our staff who attended the meal and everyone’s meals had been ordered correctly and the quality of food was excellent, everyone enjoyed the experience and their meal. The staff were very friendly and helpful and made sure everything was ok and that we had everything we needed. We highly recommend this restaurant to other people based on our great experience. Thank you for a fantastic meal.

Absolutely stunning food! This is one of our favourite places to eat in York! There was 11 of us and no one could fault the food!! Only thing I would say is that the service was a little slow and it caused confusion when we said we wanted separate tabs (which I had advised when booking over the phone) - a standard request in hospitality. This resulted on 1 person having to foot a several hundred-pound bill which could easily have been avoided. Would still highly recommend - get the nachos, they're insane!!

Table was booked in advance & food pre ordered as we were on a tight schedule - thank you to Sally. Food was lovely as always, a little draughty near the door though. Overall a fab experience value for money we would definitely return.

After having a great experience here in october i brought my daughter and her partner for dinner. The food was good but service unfortunately was not. I know its christmas party season but it shouldnt mean smaller tables are made to feel an inconvenience. Nor should i have to go looking for staff in order to get more drinks and dessert. Dissapointed as i really like the place l.
