After a disastrous spell roundabout last Christmas, the pub is back to where it was when Mark was in charge. The steak and ale pie is as good as and better than most in the area. Give them another chance if you are one of those who were so badly let down after Mark left.

In a word, rubbish. Overpriced and understandard food. Had fish served on nuclearheated steel, so dry and over done! Wife had steak which was ok but asked for rare and was served medium to well done. Better places to go.

No Service , No Staff, No idea!!!.Christmas day ruined for 11 family members who had traveled as far as 800 miles to be there for a family occasion . When we arrived we were left for 45 mins before we were seated and then put on a table only suitable for 8 people, Which was squeezed into the corner of the room with access to leave only from one side, Should anybody wish to leave the table then everybody from that side of the table had to stand so the person could leave the table. We had to wait a further 15 mins before someone took our order for our starters even though we had been promised our own personal waitress ( this does not mean sharing with any other tables). Thirty mins later I had to ask where our starters were. As I was seated in the corner I did not return to the table as I did not want to disturb the party again , hence I did not have my starter.I spent the rest of 30 mins trying to locate a better table. Failing to do this I asked the waitress to clear the table so we could start our main course and then I decided as the waiting area emptied we would take several tables there as we were less crowded although we were not seated together this being the lesser of two evils. After we had eaten I had to track down a waitress to clear the table a second time and take our order for dessert, this arrived 45 mins later by then everyone was fed up as we had been there for two and half hours.Once dessert was over I had to track our waitress a third time to get our coffees which were suppose to arrive with mince pies which I had to get up again and request those again. The atmosphere had deteriorated with other parties dining at the restaurant who were experiencing the same problems that we were experiencing.Furthermore it is totally inappropriate for senior members of staff to argue with raised voices within ear shot of the entire restaurant and then complain to other diners about those customers. It was the worst experience we have ever had ,£500 pounds totally wasted . NEVER AGAIN at the PICKBURN ARMS, as many others will agree who attended for their special occasion.

What a pleasure to be able to go to the Pickburn Arms and enjoy a quality meal in very pleasant surroundings with excellent service provided by Sam and Mark and staff. They have only been in charge a few months but what a change they have made, the car park is nearly always full when it used to be nearly always empty and what a great menu, something for everybody and at very reasonable prices AND good handpulled beers, what more could you ask for ? The other plus factor is that it is only a couple of minutes drive from Brodsworth Hall which is well worth a visit, by the time you have walked round the hall and gardens at Brodsworth you will be ready for a meal at the Pickburn. Perfect ! !

Fantastic now that it's under new ownership - the best steak and ale pie i have ever tasted and a great home cooked special menu available through the day. Definitely worth the trip out!
