The place to be in Crosby. I popped in for lunch and enjoyed an excellent duck wrap with a crunchy salad. Love the art deco building and spacious bright interior. Service was good and the owners and lovely genuine people. Highly recommended.

6 of us had a table booked last night for 8pm. We waited for over an hour for our starters and finally got our main course at 9.45. Very disappointing.

I went to the Pioneer just recently on a Saturday night, The bar area was very very busy, The food there was absolutely fantastic. My steak was cooked to perfection. The portion was just enough so you are full but not uncomfortable, the brownie dessert was nothing short of fantastic the both of us are still raving about it now. We will both be back together and with friends very shortly 10/10

Unfortunately the meal I had at the Pioneer was less than satisfactory. I went there for the three course Christmas menu with my sister and we were very disappointed. The sprouts were like bullets, grossly undercooked and the carrots were unpeeled and also undercooked. . We eat out quite a lot and know that vegetables only require minimum cooking time. However they might as well have been raw!! The starter was goats cheese which unfortunately was too large, covered in batter and without any sauce or accompaniment - only a small amount of leaves which I assume was meant to pass as salad. So I can't understand the enthusiasm for this restaurant. We won't be going back.

me and my wife and two kids went here for Sunday lunch in April 2010 we all got soup for starter which tasted odd so we sent it back then the waitress said the cook had tasted it and we were right it was odd i thought the cook was supposed to taste before it left the kitchen then the roast came out meat was like old boots we had to ask for more gravy because potatoes was very dry do not recommend this restaurant i would give it 2 out of 10 didn't even say sorry about soup manager and cook need sacking

When this place first opened it was a bit hit and miss for me, however for the last 6 months I have been visiting fortnightly at least. The food has been nothing short of fantastic every single time. By far the best place in the local area. The staff, albeit not too knowledgeable, are very friendly and warming, but the girls can wear a bit too much make up. The owner, David, is just gorgeous!!!

My wife and i along with two friends who were visiting us from
Australia went to the pioneer wine bar in crosby on new years eve. What a let down! we had booked for the "gourmet? " buffet and had been advised by the person taking the booking that there would be hot food also. NO hot food was available. During the evening my wife went to the toilet and came back with excrement all over her pants as some lovely person who had previously
been in there had what can only be described as having "diarohea" deposited this all over the toilet floor. Absolutely disgusting, my wife reported this to the staff who were very sympathetic. my wife had to leave
to go and get changed. when our Australian friend paid a visit to the toilet ater nothing had been cleaned up and the cubicle was still in this disgusting state. This is a restaurant for heavens sake, how our people supposed to enjoy their food? Needless to say we left well before midnight very embarrassed for our friends on what should have been a celebratory night. I phoned the bar when we arrived home and was promised by a staff member that a manager would phone me back. nobody has had the courtesy to do this and we will not be going back again to the pioneer nor will we be recommending it to any our friends who live in the crosby area. Our friends have now returned home and god knows what they think of our decision to go to the pioneer. Yours disgusted and ashamed.
