they charge you for the poppadoms even when you don't ask for them

Have been attending the Plaza for a number of years now, place is the same as ever. Food and Service was excellent, but the more we go, the worse it appears to be getting.
Noticed that many people have complained regarding how quick the main is on your table so soon after having your starters. It feels like they want to get you out of there asap. Bit strange as its empty most of the time!
From the moment you sit down, they want to take your starter and main meal order! Whats the rush? ... i like to have a few drinks and relax before i tuck in to a main meal.
Always assist that the meal is prepared once we have had a few drinks, and not cooked and left there and re-heated until we are ready to eat!
A lot of people i know are now avoiding this place and heading off to Channis (stratford road) or Havana (warwick road)

My husband took me to Plaza for the first time and the food was beautiful.
Bill was reasonable the only problem i found was that the main meal was given too quick after the starter and as it felt that we were being rushed may be as it was a Friday night but no excuse for it.

We visited the Plaza for the first time in a year or so (11-dec-07). It was always our favourite and we used to visit most weeks until we moved out of the area. We were made to feel very welcome.
It was the first time the grandchildren had been to an Indian restaurant and the efforts they made to ensure they enjoyed the food were incredible.
Sadly, due to recent events, the area is not as popular as it was but the food was just as delicious and consistent as it was.
The Meat and Spinach (madras hot) is my particular favourite.
One last point is that the Plaza is an Indian Sikh restaurant (as far as I'm aware the only one in the area) and the food is different from most other eateries around there.
Have fun comparing

Ive been here once before about a year ago and had a great experience, so I thought id give it another try. On the outside this place looks quite run down compared to the other restaurants along ladypool road. The decor is old and reminiscent of a 1980's type indian restaurant. This I think adds to the prestige of the place, no nonsense and to the point- the food does the talking. We entered and found the service to be warm and welcoming- poppadoms placed immediately at the table - mint sauce and spicy onions, I would have liked mango chutney also which was not provided. no matter i asked the waiter what the "signature chicken dish" was and he recommended chicken methi, so i ordered this along with naan bread and also mango lassi- a traditional Indian yoghurt drink. Fabulous!!! The chicken methi was magical- chicken was soft and tender and the spices etc had a fantastic aftertaste, tickling the tastebuds. good portion sizes and the jug of mango lassi was the best ive ever had- magical. i thought the naan bread could have been better, as it was a little thick and dry but no matter. the bill was very reasonable indeed worked out at around nine quid a head. I think this place is brilliant, certainly the food is far superior to some of the more trendier restaurants in town (believe me ive tried all of them Ithiaas, Cafe Lazeez, shimla pinks, blue mango) and i would say though that with all the new contemporary restaurants out there with there fancy decor, lights, plasma screens etc, it was actually a positive to be in an "old school" environment. The chef also came and greeted us- which was nice I would therefore thoroughly recommend this place- I know now where my local curry house is. oh and extra bonus- you can bring your own booze
Mrs Hansons's little soldier,
I have been making the journey from Nuneaton to the Plaza over the last few years and consistently had good curries from this restaurant. The Prawn Puri starter and Tropical Balti main course are superb. The staff are very friendly, the decor is clean but quite basic and you can take your own drinks. The only gripe I've got is that the main course is served too quickly after the starter.
