Unable to recommend this place. Nice surroundings, holding prospects of a decent meal. BUT, without a doubt, the worst meal we have EVER had, in many years of restaurant meals. Both Scampi & chips were so overcooked that a fork couldn't penetrate the coating on the scampi and the chips had to be picked up by hand because they were so hard!! No potato left in the chips - fried away, I assume. Service was OK but have had much better elsewhere. We ate what we could & told the staff why we were leaving the rest - unable to eat it. No comment was made, no apology given & we paid the full price for the meal. The Roast of the day was the most basic I have ever seen, though it was apparently quite tasty. All round, disgusted with the quality of the food. Not recommended.

If you are booking the priory for any kind of event, avoid at all costs. We booked this venue for an event, and paid the full deposit, plus a substantial sum of the total costs. When the event had to be cancelled due to a family death, the priory restaurant refused to refund any money, above the deposit. Any company that treats their customers this way, does not deserve your business, avoid at all costs.

I was very disappointed with our meal, we have been going to the priory for a long time and have never had a bad meal, but last night was different, 1 meal was sent back twice, the other meals were dry and over cooked. The owner was very rude and didn't even apologize about the meals. We will never be going back again.

What a lovely setting - thoroughly enjoyed the service, food and scenery. We will recommend this venue to all our friends.

We ate at the Priory this week for the first time in a while and were very disappointed. The quality of the food was very poor and the presentation was not much better. Having previously been quite a nice place to eat with a good menu the Priory has certainly gone downhill. Overpriced food - I would not recommend the Priory to anyone.

Once again I have been impressed by the hospitality and food of this great little restaurant. Thanks again Tony and staff for a wonderful evening.

I have recently visited The Priory, both at lunchtime and in the evening, and was blown away by the whole experience. Also soon as entering the door we were pleasantly welcomed by the friendly staff and owner who were more than happy to accommodate our needs and expectations. Both lunch and evening menus have a wide range of dishes, and the special boards have a variety of simple to more extravagant meals, suited to all tastes. The food was piping hot, freshly cooked and of excellent quality. The Priory has a well varied wine menu for quite a small establishment, which is impressive. Throughout our visit the staff were chatty, very helpful and down to earth. I would certainly recommend a visit to this delightful restaurant!

I certainly would recommend a visit to the Priory good choice of menu, we had a lovely roast with fresh vegetables and home made gravy, what more could you ask for, we are now looking forward to next week to try the fish and home made chips. Excellent value for your money I will certainly recommend my friends.

I have been visiting the Priory for nearly 4yrs. I visit a lot of restaurants but the Priory can rival the very best. The restaurant has a great feel to it from the moment you walk through the door, the decor is classy and the staff are always welcoming and have brilliant customer service skills. The menu has a good range and then the specials boards supplement things with something to satisfy even the most demanding. The food is always exceptional (the curry is better than any that I have tasted anywhere - period). If you're in the area, give the Priory a visit but be warned - you'll become hooked.

I went to this restaurant last Saturday, I just popped in for lunch. I was impressed by the friendly service as soon as I walked in through the door. Tony The Tap greeted me in person and I was quickly shown to a table. I was impressed with the decor or the restaurant, the friendliness of the staff and above all the quality of the food and wine that I enjoyed. 5*!
