Backing onto the foothills of Skiddaw and looking out over Bassenthwaite lake to the fells beyond, Ravenstone Manor enjoys an idyllic location, convenient for both Keswick and Cockermouth. Under new ownership, the 19th century dower house sits in three hectares of grounds and has 20 ensuite rooms as well as a bar and restaurant that are open for lunch and dinner every day. It’s also one of the most dog-friendly hotels in the Lake District - pooches are allowed to eat in the bar and can accompany their owners throughout the hotel except for the kitchens and sofas. First class 3 course meal at Ravenstone Manor last week. Prawn Tempura, perfectly cooked fillet steak and lemon tart. The steak was the best I've had in a long long time, well charred on the outside but v rare and tender inside. The matching wine was very pleasant too. The hotel is in a great location by Keswick, Bassenthwaite and Cockermouth. Great views of the snow peaked fells from my bedroom window!
