After a major refurbishment, the Red Lion at High Lane is well on track to regain its position as the flagship property for Stockport-based brewer Robinsons. The full menu is served here every day from 12 noon onwards and if you're peckish in the morning they also serve coffee, croissants and cakes from 10am. As well as a range of hot and cold sandwiches, burgers and pizza planks, the menu offers steaks from the grill, favourites like Braised shank of Welsh lamb, Fish pie and Chicken Chasseur plus healthy salads and 'superfoods' like Risotto with butternut squash and Monterey Jack cheese and Moroccan king prawns with pomegranate, couscous and natural yoghurt. There is a regular schedule of live events and a pleasant and partially covered outdoor beer garden for the summer months. The Red Lion is on the A6, ideally positioned if you are heading for the Peak District or nearby Lyme Hall where the BBC's Pride and Prejudice was filmed.
