About Red Mezze

Red Mezze on Leazes Park Road has been a fixture of the Newcastle dining scene for more than a decade. This Turkish and Mediterranean restaurant with its distinct red décor and Turkish memorabilia adorning the walls is close to both the University and football stadium and is open seven days a week from 11.30am right through until late. The charcoal grill is always fired up and both meat skewers and their Mixed Grill are house specialities. But there is loads of choice on the menu including hot and cold mezze plates, BBQ dishes, fish and vegetarian options. There are great-value special deals available too at lunch and early evening. The restaurant can seat 75 diners and there is a function room with space for up to 20 people. Takeaway can be ordered through Deliveroo.

As a family of 9 people of varying ages, we visited red mezze on 27th May 2024. We could not have been made to feel more welcome. Lovely relaxed atmosphere and amazing top quality Turkish cooking - we all thoroughly enjoyed it and can't wait to go back!

Good location near the city centre and St. James Park. Red Mezze is a Turkish restaurant however the food isn’t exactly Turkish. More a mix of Turkish and Middle Eastern dishes. The ingredients aren’t of the best quality so the food it’s as flavoursome and tasty as what you find in restaurants when visiting Turkey. If you want a quick kebab then this place is OK. If you are expecting a good quality Turkish meal, best avoid.

Had lunch early on a Sunday , restaurant was quite , good prompt service , drinks and starters arrived quickly , we opted for the two course special menu (£12.50) both the starters and mains were excellent, well prepared and very tasty Overall bill of £37.50 for food and drinks was brilliant, cheaper than a takeaway We’ll definitely be back

Amazing value and great food! We opted for the lunch special menu. The starters and mains were delicious, especially loved the shawarma chicken. We added baklava to finish and it was amazing!
