Visited the Riverhead on a very busy Saturday evening to celebrate my friends 30th. Coming across the tops from Saddleworth to see what Marsden had to offer certainly impressed. Starter, mains and wine all in for £35.00!! And the food was fantastic. I had homemade chicken and liver pate with a cranberry jam, delicious and a rib eye steak with creamy mash and green peppercorn sauce.
One of my friends had the trio of salmon fillet, monk fish and sea bass-also delicious. Great pub, excellent food and WILL come back again!!

we have been using Riverhead Brewery, with Richard, and the lovely staff for some time. we enjoy the frequency of the menu changes, the excellent range of chef specials and the very unusual texture and flavour combinations which Richard and his team use. The staff always always, look after us and we enjoy coming over the hill to dine at the Riverhead frequently.

My brother and I recently organised our Dad's 60th birthday dinner at the Riverhead Tap, and I could not have been more impressed by the friendly, helpful and professional approach of Richard, the chef, and the dining room staff.
The food is simply excellent: my only difficulty was narrowing the choice down enough from the very wide selection of tempting dishes available. Every member of our party (spanning a 60 year age range and including two children) commented on how good the food was. Personally, I had eaten at a top London restaurant the previous evening, and frankly the food was better at the Riverhead (at a fraction of the cost and without the pretension). I enjoyed a fantastic home-made chicken liver parfait for starter; and a generous portion of roast rump of lamb with a black pudding shepherds pie (which exceeded all expectations) which was served with spinach and braised chicory (or perhaps it was celeriac: I eat to enjoy my food, not to remember the details for reviews!). For pudding, we all shared a selection of every pudding on the menu. Their arrival quelled every claim that no-one could possibly manage another mouthful, until mmmmmm by mmmmmmm, the plates were emptied (again!).
Very pleasant, relaxed atmosphere; attentive and helpful staff; very reasonably priced food and good wines; and I haven't even mentioned the micro-brewery downstairs! Oh yes, and there is somewhere to feed the ducks (much appreciated by the younger members of the party!).
Very highly recommended.

Been here about six times since the place opened, this is great informal dining in great soundings.
The open kitchen is calm and organised, and the chefs are kicking out some GREAT food.
The steak and ale pie is a must, and seems to get better each time!Veg with a twist is also a treat.
We've tried the pumpkin curry and celery/ walnut soups recently, both were fantastic.
Its really refreshing to find top food at a price you can keep going back for more.
WELL DONE RIVERHEAD!
