Rookwood Bar & ‘Cue opened in July 2014 in Arthouse Square in Liverpool city centre. Unmistakably urban in style, it’s a laid-back and industrial venue where the focus is on top-quality produce, great cocktails and a relaxed vibe. Sourcing the highest possible quality produce from local suppliers is key. The beef used for all the steaks and burgers comes from Albert Mathews, a North West family butcher established in 1935, who dry age all of their beef for 28 days in England’s only Himalayan Salt Chamber. It’s cooked on their Inka grill over charcoal and sustainably-sourced hardwood to impart a distinctive smoky flavour. Steaks are served with beef dripping chips, char-grilled tomato and field mushroom. Gourmet burgers are served on a brioche bun, and small plates for sharing include their super-spicy Ghost Wings. There are also vegetarian choices and special Party Sharing Menus. Food is served from 5pm-10.30pm weekdays (and right through from 12 noon at weekends) and the bar stays open until 2am weekdays and 3am at weekends specialising in cocktails and craft beers. The Daily Telegraph recently named Rookwood as one of the UK's Top 10 Barbecue restaurants.
We went to Rookwood last Friday for my husbands birthday and he was blown away by the quality of the steaks. He has steak wherever he goes and said it was in the top 3 he has ever tasted. I had the vegetarian burger with Halloumi, avocado and sweet tomato chutney as I don't eat meat, which was also really good. It is great that a meat restaurant caters for me, as they're usually not somewhere I can consider going with the husband as I am not normally catered for. Recommended.

Best burgers in town. I love it here!

Went last Saturday and the burger was without question the best I've had in Liverpool. It was called a Boozy Suzy and made with homemade beer cheese. Whichever genius thought up mixing beer, cheese and burgers needs a medal or something. I'll definitely be back soon.
