What a great place, the meals are all fresh and home made - the chips are just amazing (not a frozen chip in sight) The meals are like no other pub meals I have ever had, true honest food and well worth the trip. The staff are really friendly and stunning views. This Pub is a real gem and a visit is a must.

I have eaten at The Rose and Crown a number of times now any every one has been GREAT!
The country pub is in a wonderful location and offers just the best home style cooking. Everything is home made here! from soup to the best chips I have ever tasted. Fish and Chips is a must even if you order just to see the size of the plate!!
It is a real must this place, however Sunday lunch gets very busy and as everything is home made you may have a short wait but it is well worth it.
GREAT PLACE

I have to echo the previous comments. This is a little gem of a pub, out of the way high up in the Pennine hills. The food is superb, incredible value for money (check out the steak and kidney pudding). They obviously have a trained chef doing the cooking and the Sunday roast puts most pub offerings to shame because they use fresh vegetables (and no frozen Yorkshire puddings!). Really relaxed atmosphere and very friendly staff. Make a visit, the uphill slog your car has to make is worth!

What a find - after looking on the net for a "Good Pub" for lunch prior to a formal dinner in the area fell on the Rose and Crown - directions very good BUT food and beer and service and approach to customers was out of this world - only wish i didn't live 180 miles away as i would take up residence
If you get chance go and sample the menu the game pie was excellent we are also considering going up for the St Georges day banquet.. can you give 11 of of 10?
many thanks to all staff
