Salt House Tapas is situated right opposite John Lewis in what was once the Bishop of Liverpool's residence. This Good Food Guide-listed modern urban tapas bar is the brainchild of Paddy and Martin, the team behind the original food concept at Med-styled chain Ego. They have now struck out on their own, following their passion for all things Spanish, offering diners the very best in fresh and contemporary tapas. Charcuterie plates features Serrano ham, Joselito chorizo, salchichon and top-quality acorn-fed Extremadura ham. The range of 20-plus Tapas Plates has something for everyone, including plenty of vegetarian choices. Seared scallops come with sweetcorn puree, chorizo oil and crisp Serrano ham. Slow roasted pork belly is served with peaches, sherry and almonds. And Sautéed baby chorizo is complemented with orange blossom honey. There's also some scrumptious desserts, a Spanish cheeseboard and an impressive drinks selection which includes a range of eight sherries, cavas, cocktails and a well-chosen 30-bin wine list focused on Spain and South America. Open from 10am to midnight, seven days a week. Hanover Street Social and Salt House Bacaro are sister venues.
