Well on 30/12/2011 three of us came here and were served two pints followed a little later by two more. We were very well dressed, quiet and extremely courteous even complimenting the barman on pulling a good pint. Then when requesting a third pint we were told abruptly and in a nasty fashion that we had had too much and were asked to leave! His female colleague who had just appeared also had the same attitude! We Couldn't believe the incredible change in attitude. We were in no way loud, abusive, crude or disrespectful. On asking why, he just said the manager told him to. Asking to speak to the manager we were told Oh He' went out 30mins ago! now please leave! There were 9 people in the pub, nobody eating. We left as quietly as we had entered but wished that the barman would be able to keep his head on his shoulders the following night, being New Years Eve. Wow I bet that night was a bundle of fun! So we and many of our friends in St Annes are spreading the word to avoid this place with the disgraceful attitude the staff.are showing.
Slap And Tickle
We had the Sunday carvery today at £8.95 per person. The staff were helpful and friendly, the vegetables were delicious. The portions of carvery meat were far from generous and I wouldn't recommend the crackling unless your teeth are made of steel! Potatoes selection quite disappointing too, roasties a bit soggy, lumpy mash or boring old boiled. Luckily the giant yorkshires and gravy were yummy. If we go again we'd opt for a day other than Sunday when it's a bit cheaper. Overall only a 6 out of 10 from us.

Salters Warf Toby Carvery, the staff there are absolutely brilliant, they are warm and very welcoming, that is until you meet the management. Now i went in and the manageress placed me in my seat, she was so rude, it was like she was a first time waiter or something because the way she speaks and handles the customers, it was so unreal. And then there's the way she speaks to the staff, after she sat me down, i had this really polite and kind waitress, Danielle i think it was, she was really nice and i could see she had been really busy all day, she made one mistake and then that was it, the manageress started having ago at her, the management stink to be honest, the are so patronizing and ungrateful for what their members of staff do for them, you know if it was not for all the staff there, salters warf would be a dead pub because mi sure no one would be in there if it was down to the management, to be honest i think it could be done better by monkeys than charlie and Helen, i only go in there because of the staff.
BRING ON NEW MANAGEMENT THAT CAN ACTUALLY APPRECIATE THEIR STAFF, AND NOT BE ARSEHOLES LIKE THEM TWO!!!!!!!!

Long gone are the unruly children running riot with no caring parent in sight! Thank you Toby Carvery for turning this horrible, dirty rip off of a brewers fayre around. The staff are always welcoming every time I visit and I always enjoy one of their cask ales in the bar before a good value for money fresh meal. I can't cook that meal with that variety of meat and veg for that price!! Keep up the good work!

i am writing to complain about my meal on xmas day at salters
wharf in st annes,i booked for 3 people at a cost of nearly £120 ,i was dissapointed as the starter we ordered was salmon and prawns with bloomer bread but no bread arrived ,the carvery was lovely but then my pudding of treacle sponge with an endless jug of custard came with hardly any custard and no endless jug ! for the money paid i am very dissapointed.

Only fair to balance my previously scathing comment about this place, which has become agreeably more civilised.
Food's OK for the money - and ridiculously cheap if you dine early - but it's now become standard carvery fare so, while it's perfectly acceptable, gourmet it ain't.
Staff are friendly and willing, and drinks are well-priced.
Malcontent
Avoid unless you enjoy the thrill of seeing the waiting staff navigate through a melée of unsupervised children. If they aren't bothering their parents, why should it bother you?

The Salters Wharf was very cheap as they have got an offer of buy one meal get one for 99p in January. The service and the food were to a very good standard. There is something for everyone at Salters Wharf adults and children. Me and my husband love it.
